Go to http://www.browsercam.com - For about $40.00 a month you can do
unlimited testing in most hardware/browser setups.

I'm already a member of an annual group purchase. ;)

Likewise with monitors: do I need to have more than one or will one
suffice as long as it's sufficiently large enough?

One CRT is enough. Because of the way flat panels work, you're not
likely to pleased trying to use only one for testing at a broad range of
real resolutions. To have even the slightest chance of doing it, it'll
need a minimum 1200 vertical native resolution. If 1536 or more vertical
exists, it might not be too bad, but I've never seen one.

Re: [WSG] xhtml strict break tag bug?

2006-11-18 Thread sharron

Thank you all for the help and your time.
The site owner has instituted a list format for the menu.

I'd like to know why the break tags as she was attempting to use them would
not work correctly, when I use xhtml strict on my own site and don't have
that issue.

I was conviced her problem was related to the css, but the css was validated
as was the html, but as soon as you added the strict doc type it went
haywire.

Again Thank you all!

ps I also pass on the reccomendation to remove the tabindex stuff.

Hi all,

This is, unfortunately, very much off topic. It has nothing to do with web

The mail list does not cover: Non-Web Standards related issues and support

If you would like to respond to John Faulds, please do it offlist.

Thanks all

Re: [WSG] Using list items for horizontal navigation

2006-11-18 Thread russ - maxdesign
However, I have a couple questions. One of the challenges of the conversion
was getting each link to act like its own cell/box so it would change
background colour but stay within the top and bottom border of the navigation
bar. Unlike a table cell, the list items don't stay contained within their box
so easily. To solve this I set the line height of the navigation bar as
 follows:

Hi Stephen,
Here [1] is an explanation of why the padding on your list items is
operating in a slightly odd way. When you change the li or the a within
the li to display: block and then float it, your problems should
disappear.

You don't have to go with the javascript part, but this page shows how to
use float:left with IE and display:table;display:table-cell; with
better browsers:
