You need to bring your concerns to the loco-council mailing list.
 loco-councillists.ubuntu.com

You can also talk to them in their IRC channel.

You can find specific people to contact on this page:
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/LoCoCouncil

you can also talk to them on IRC in the channel #ubuntu-lococouncil on
freenode.net

Ubuntu Saudi Arabia LoCo and IRC channel

2010-07-13 Thread Bilal Akhtar
There I come.

Hello and assalam alaikum everybody.

I am NOT the leader of the LoCo team to be exact. I manage the Launchpad
team (~ubuntu-sa) but Nayif is the leader of the so-called team.

Why am I calling the team 'so-called'? Because the team is *almost*
dead. The *dead* mailing list is hosted on google groups (I don't know
why Nayif chose that). I wished to change that once, and started the
Launchpad team, hoping to set up a lists.ubuntu.com mailing list soon.
Due to very little participation of the >150 google groups mailing lists
subscribers in the Launchpad team, I gave up my hope in reviving the
team.

I would be glad if someone transfers the IRC channel ownership to me
(nick: bilalakhtar). I am very much active on IRC and Launchpad (mainly
Ubuntu Development, bug fixing, merging and syncing). I already operate
channel #gnome-media-player on Freenode.

Summing up all of the above points, I want the following to happen now:

1) EVERYONE ACTIVE in the team should join the Launchpad team
( https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-sa ).

2) Once that is done, I will transfer the administration of the above
team to Nayif (Where are you?).

3) I also want to take over channel #ubuntu-sa and get ubot2 or ubot4 to
stay on it.

4) I also want a group of Arabic translators to translate every page I
write into Arabic. Language is a big problem for me, as I am a native
Urdu speaker and can write and speak English well, but not Arabic.
Google Translate is my friend.

5) Where is our Forums subdomain?

6) We should host events. So far, we *never* hosted any event.

7) I would remain the team contact, but the leader would be Nayif (if he
is still active) and if not, then I will take over that as well.

There. I hope that the above points solve the confusion among everyone
over here.

I will soon translate the Ubuntu Saudi LoCo team wiki page into English
as well (when I get the time, I m too busy in Ubuntu development).

Thank you for reading my mail.

Regards,
Bilal Akhtar.

Re: LoCo IRC channel management

2007-12-14 Thread Russell John
Hi Amir,

I see two bots on your channel #ubuntu-il, among which one is a logging bot.

The founder of the channel is "sivang", are you him? Only the founder
(or anyone who has founder access) can change channel settings such as
topic lock, entry message, and more.

LoCo IRC channel management

2007-12-14 Thread Amir Eldor
hello, i've been wondering for quite some time who manages to bots and
channel operators on our loco channels, and how to configure them and
all of that. I failed to find a guide on the wiki, am I missing
something?

For example, I'd like to set up a topic for the channel, but it just
resets to some default subject each time. How do I do that? or... can I
configure people (such as myself) to always be promoted as a channel
operator when i join? etc

Thanks!

It's #ubuntu-release-party, but #ubuntu-releaseparty forwards there so
people will end up in the same place :)

I recently discovered that #ubuntu-releaseparty was registered on freenode,
we managed to contact the owner and change things so an appropriate title
could be set for the channel.

So lets all join the channel for the party, whenever it may be happening.

Re: irc channel

2007-01-08 Thread Russell John
OK great. The first step is to register your nickname. To register
it, type: /ns register your_password

Once it's registered to you, identify to NickServ by typing: /ns
identify your_password

Now you're ready to register a channel. Type /join #ubuntu-cat to
join the channel. To register it, type: /cs register #ubuntu-cat
your_password

Done, the channel is now registered to you :)

Hi all,

As we are starting a Catalan LoCo Team, we need an irc channel on
Freenode network. I have little knowledge of irc network, only as a
sporadical user. So, how should I register a channel on the Freenode IRC
network ?

Simply open a channel and mantain continuous presence is sufficient or
need to register a group, or something else more ?

Thankyou !

OK, What's the "official" three-letter language code of Tamil?

You can create the channel yourself, probably name it #ubuntu-tamil?
For a forum, you first need web hosting. Talk to [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Hi amachu,

To get the ubuntu-ta list created, it's best to contact Jeff Waugh
directly. To get the irc channel: simply join #ubuntu-ta, it's still
unoccupied and unregistered so you can simply register it. Don't forget
to add it to http://wiki.ubuntu.com/InternetRelayChat

Domain and IRC channel for Tamil Translation Team..

2006-06-08 Thread amachu techie
Hi,

We have created a Team for Translating Tamil.

Tamil is one of the official Languages of Three Nations: India, Sri Lanka and Singapore.

Details of the Team are:

Team: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/TamilTeam

Contact: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/sriramadas

Launchpad: https://launchpad.net/people/amachu-techie

Ubuntu Tamil Translators Group:
https://launchpad.net/people/ubuntu-l10n-ta, we have got the
recognision and is listed as offcial Tamil Translators under
https://launchpad.net/rosetta/groups/ubuntu-translators

Now we need to have mailing list, for which we had mailed to, [EMAIL PROTECTED]

We now need a domain and IRC channel. Also guide us to create a forum for us.

We would like to take it globally since, Tamil has offcial recognition in three countries.

Kindly help us by providing a domain and channel.

Thank You,

Sri Ramadoss M,
M: +91 98841 28185
