Re: LPRng: Destination (output device) in printcap entry

2002-02-04 Thread Joel Hammer

Just guessing, but:
Common sense says PASS is the printer queue at 192.122.1.123
Common sense says lp=192.1yy22.1.123%5001 means 5001 is the port for
an lpd daemon on 192.etc.

 Hi all,
I'm new in the lprng list.

Could some one explain me what means the PASS (from the lp=... line) in
 the following printcap entry:

 my_queue:\

:mx#0:\
:sh:\
:sd=/var/spool/lpd/my_queue:\

Also, what is the diferrence between:
   - [EMAIL PROTECTED]
   and
   - lp=192.1yy22.1.123%5001

 Thanks in advance.

2002-02-04 Thread Ryan Novosielski

It probably stands for passthrough on that printer... something like RAW.
The rest of it is probably a printer IP address.
