I had a similar problem with an intel board. I got that error and then X

Turns out I had no XSERVER entry at all. Added it in set to auto and it's
fine now.

Bingo!

X will start with:

   X_VIDEORAM = 16384

Also note that this happened to be exactly the LARGEST value that would work.
It bombs at X_VIDEORAM = 16385 or greater.

There's something else causing a problem.

To troubleshoot this problem, try setting 'SCREEN_01 = shell' in
lts.conf, and when you boot the client, you should have a bash shell
prompt.

At that prompt, try running 'startx'. Once it fails, it should drop
you back to the command line.

At that point, see what the errors say and report back to us.

You can also try: startx >/tmp/out 2>&1
and after it fails, take a look at the /tmp/out file on the workstation.

Hey Jim!

I just started banging on the i810-based terminal I have at my disposal.

Attached is the /tmp/mnt/xorg.log and output of start &> /tmp/out.txt

Before testing, I stuck a hard drive in the terminal and did a FC5
install
(X worked). All the same kernel modules loaded and all of the entries
in /dev/

match. There were some differences in the X config file, but they don't
not make a difference - I have tried using the FC5 xorg.conf & hacking
build_x4_cfg to add the additional lines (load the dbe, fbdevhw, record,
and dri modules, add "Group 0" & "Mode 0666" to the DRI section).

Back to banging on this box...
