This problem is occuring on my laptop. I had no problem before I issued
the command "sudo apt-get install lubuntu-default-settings". It
upgraded to version 0.54. Straight after this, the GUI for Octave and
Jasp became distorted. I then issued the command "sudo apt-get purge
lubuntu-default-settings" and the GUI returned to normal on these apps.
It's kind of a mysterious problem because I was able to install lubuntu-
default-settings 0.54 on my desktop computer without getting the same
problem. I have locked the version of lubuntu-default-settings to 0.50
on my laptop in order to avoid the GUI getting distorted on my apps. I
also noticed the problem with the GUI does not occur in Gnome, but only
with lubuntu.
