[Lubuntu-desktop] Cleaning Lubuntu applications (part 1)
Hi, I would like to discuss the removal of several applications : - parcelite The main goal was to add a clipboard manager, because old pcmanfm didn't manage it well. Now that pcmanfm2 is used, I would like to know if people experiment problems with copy paste without parcelite. If you don't have any problems, we could remove it from the meta-package. Also, parcelite is abandoned upstream (http://parcellite.sourceforge.net/?p=89), so don't expect improvement in maverick cycle. - pyNeighborhood With pcmanfm now using gvfs, we have good support for mounting. I wonder if we really need a GUI for managing mounts. Also, It seems that the current version on 10.04 is broken, if you want to test and add feedbacks, be sure to test the PPA version (https://launchpad.net/~pyneighborhood/+archive/stable) If you think about other things to remove, feel free to add them in the discussion. Please note that adding and replacing applications should be discuss in separate topics :) Regards, Julien Lavergne ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

::sigh:: I take it you got no joy with the latest one either then Steve? Shame, it seemed so 'nearly' there :-( Regards, Phill. [Lubuntu-desktop] [Lubuntu Desktop] Replace Aqualung with deadbeef.
Is there any chance of deadbeef getting into the ubuntu repos? imho, it does seem at a more advanced stage of development than aqualung. Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] PCManFM 0.9.7 + libfm 0.1.12 RC1
I'm not sure what you mean by 'killing' version 0.95, but you could change /usr/bin/pcmanfm (which is a soft-link to pcmanfm2 at the same folder) so that it points to your newly compiled version. It shouldn't cause much problem as long as you remember to change it back after you are done testing. Is there a way to make it my default within lubuntu instead of having to kill 0.95? (I have also compiled it with debug enabled so that should it give problems I can re-run inside gdb) - If i need to just compile it all in non-debug mode and delete something let me know :-) Regards, Phill. Can you tell me where to get the latest release of the pcman and libfm from? If I need to compile them up, I should be able to that without too many problems (You got me through the last time I did it). the only step I do not know is that of removing the existing versions so that the system uses only the new ones (If you recall, I did manage to have two instances of pcmanfm running at once). I've got a 'clean' lubuntu partition installed, would you prefer that i pull in the proposed updates from the main ubuntu library (those that are queuing for 10.04.1) or leave it as 'pure' lubuntu 10.04 installation? Most of the bugs in pcmanfm bug tracker are cleared and the stability is generally good. As we are now in feature-freeze, no new features are added and this is a bug fix release. Please get it heavily tested. Current plan is to make 2 ~ 3 RC release before the final stable release. I'll make RC release when I fix most of the solvable problems. However, I won't decide when to release final stable version myself this time. I leave the decision regarding to when to make a 1.0 stable release to our package maintainers for ArchLinux, Debian, Fedora, SuSE, and Ubuntu and our translation coordinator. If all of them agree that the file manager is stable enough and there should be a 1.0 stable release, we'll make one. This should ensure enough quality assurance for this major component of LXDE. Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Cleaning Lubuntu applications (part 1)
According to the application's website, parcellite: Keeps a clipboard history. Various view options to display items the way you like it. Daemon mode; guard your clipboard contents when you close applications. Global hotkeys to display your items quickly. Perform custom commands using clipboard contents. None of them seems to be essential for basic clipboard function. Personally, I never used it, and copy paste always worked as I expected. Although 'clipboard guarding' seems to be useful enough, I don't think it is necessary enough to warrant its place in the meta-package.
