[Lubuntu-desktop] Pidgin - possible problem with 11-10 a1

2011-06-20 Thread Phill Whiteside
Hiyas,

a bit of an odd one. As you know, I'm running the alpha1 one of 11-10 in a
Virtual Machine.

After a clean install of lubuntu 11-10 a1, pidgin is quite happy. However,
after a reboot it fails to connect.

1) browsing still works (Chromium and FFox)
2) x-chat still works

I do not see this issue in my VM of 11-04, so am a little lost. could
someone with a 'real' install check it out on 11-10 a1, if it is a problem
on virtualision then I can go and nag JM to death :)

As always, please tell me what you want on details.

Regards,

Phill.

NetworkManager 0.9 changed its API and the version of Pidgin in the
Ubuntu repositories hasn't been updated for this change yet. Pidgin
checks for network connectivity and does not get the expected response
from NetworkManager.

The NetworkManager update was mentioned in the Ubuntu alpha release

Hi and thanks,

From what you are saying the poor tormented devs need to have a further look
into this.

Sorry guys, but it does appear to be a 'bug', as to if it is Network Manager
or Pidgin, you good people need to find out.

If there is anything i can do to assist on tracking it down, please ask.

regards,

Phill.

2011-06-20 Thread Chris
Might be another reason to switch to Empathy, as it get supported not only
by Ubuntu, but also Gnome. Both Pidgin and LXDE don't have that kind of
support-base. Just my 2c of course.

Actually never mind, this is fixed with Pidgin 2.8 which was uploaded
to the Oneiric repositories today.
