What can I say? YOU ARE AMAZING :)
Thanks a lot, I appreciate that.

As for:

I do have the same issue by the way - Lubuntu 11.10 from a normal
installation - 32 bit.

Yes, it's so easy to reproduce that. I'll send more details later because
it's too late now here :)

it's a bug to report, probably under obconf package if understand

But it should be fixed in 12.04 shortly, using lightdm.

As far as I know, this feature doesn't exist. You can report a feature
request on LXDE bug tracker :

Lxterminal maintainer is active, so he may be able to add it :)

2011-12-15 Thread amjjawad HOOHAA
Hello Phill,

I'm glad to see you back to action ;)

Thanks for your reminder but yet again, I'm very much aware of that note *(*
*Please note: Ubuntu Developers do not usually read the forums)** *but
thanks, your "reminder" is highly appreciated.

Two things I'd like to highlight to be extra clear *(seems my emails are
not very clear on the mailing list like my posts on the forum):
*
1- I was asking for Lubuntu-Team's Help to assist those users who have
problems. Now, whether these problems are bugs or not, that's another story
:)

2- NOT everyone on the mailing list, Phill. NOT everyone has Launchpad
account. Those who have posted on LXDE Forum, in most cases, their posts
are the first post they ever make/create, not to mention that in most
cases, they don't even know about Ubuntu Forum. Above all, some are still
confusing between LXDE and Lubuntu. They think the system is called LXDE
which is obviously WRONG.

Having that said, ALL what I have asked was helping those users. That is
all. I have NO idea whether these cases on these threads are bugs or not?
that's why I asked for some help over here :)
As I wrote to Julien, if ALL the cases on these threads are bugs, please
confirm so that I'll communicate that to the users as I have promised to
help them :)

If what you are saying that I need to advice them to either use the mailing
list and/or launchpad instead of the forum (LXDE Forum or Ubuntu Forum)
just because the developers will look at the mailing list and launchpad but
NOT the forums then this is totally a different story.

Your email (reply) is understood, hope mine will be too :)

P.S.
Cases are:

Hello Julien,

As always and forever, thanks for your reply. I'm very much aware of the
fact that *developers look at launchpad, not the forum* and I'm also aware
of how important to use Launchpad (obviously since the developers don't
look at the forum). However, I was just sharing my opinion and stating what
I think :)

Now, back to topic ... is there any real solution/fix to the issues I sent?
I need to get back to the users and from my side, I have nothing to offer
(unfortunately) except asking for the team help. Someone with better
knowledge than myself can probably jump in to help OR send the solution
here and I'll post it there. What I do care about is helping those users.
One of them was waiting for 6 months without a single word from anyone.

May I re-post the threads here again?

If the "real" solution to all the above issues is advising the users (OPs -
Original Posters) to report these issues to Launchpad, then please confirm.
Otherwise, I'll be waiting for some answers to them :)

Thanks and keep the good work up, you rock!

Hi ammjjawad,

can I simply repeat what Julien says. As a tester for *buntu +1 series, we
have a forum area at http://ubuntuforums.org/forumdisplay.php?f=412 It
clearly states at the top..

*Ubuntu +1 (Precise Pangolin)*
This forum is for the discussion of the development of the next version of
Ubuntu (Precise Pangolin). Precise is in development and will be released
in April 2012. Please note: Ubuntu Developers do not usually read the
forums, to report a problem found in Precise please report the bug in
Launchpad .

The important part being that

*Please note: Ubuntu Developers do not usually read the forums*
*
*
bugs should be reported via LaunchPad, if some one is unsure, then they
should ask on the mailing list. These two methods of contact are read by
the Developers. This applies to both +1, current and previous releases.

Regards,

Phill.

Sometimes, the solution you provide may hide a real bug. I'm ok than
some issues doesn't have to be reported on launchpad. But it's important

Hi JerryLA

The "blue wallpaper" I was talking about was from the LXLauncher, like
this picture: http://wiki.lxde.org/en/images/5/5c/LXlauncher.png
You can see the LXLauncher if you choose something like "Lubuntu
Netbook" or if you type "lxlauncher" on terminal.

I didn't tested the Precise yet, cause I am waiting the Beta1. If
someone changed something at the LXLauncher, I will be very happy =] ,
but I didn't saw any e-mail with someone saying that it is now
possible to change the "wallpaper" from LXLauncher.

Hello Gabriel,

Good to see you still active over here :)

> and not at the forum.

Most of users, including me, start their searching for a solution or
seeking for support journey from the forums, of course after doing some
Google Search (which in most cases direct them to one of these forums).
IMHO, reporting a problem on Launchpad should be done if there is NO Real
Solution/Fix to a particular issue OR it's an obvious bug (but again, how
can we tell whether it's a bug or not?).
For a small (BUT GREAT) team like us (Lubuntu), reporting issues on
Launchpad directly without checking the forum will add extra work to the
developer and above all, on forums, you probably could find a solution
easier and faster. Maybe I'm wrong but this is what I think.

I understand nothing is perfect but it's good to pursuit for perfection.
One of the cases, the user was waiting for 6 months with no answer. He/She
moved to XFCE and that honestly bothered me. LXDE is good, in fact amazing
but definitely needs more care and support.

Thanks!

Hello amjjawad and everybody!

I THINK that some of those problems is better if they report at
Launchpad, and not at the forum.

Taking advantage of this email, I will comment on a "problem" at
LxLauncher. It is the unchangeable "blue wallpaper" that I believe
that everybody knows about. But I think I am the only one who uses the
LxLauncher and everybody have more important things to do at the
LXDE/Lubuntu project.

I don't have the knowledge to fix that, so I'm translating what needs
to be translated (LSC, for example) and waiting the day that someone
will have the time to change what needs to be changed at LxLauncher.

[Lubuntu-desktop] Users' Threads - Help Needed

2011-12-13 Thread amjjawad HOOHAA
Hi Everyone,

Feel like I haven't sent anything in ages :)

I have noticed some threads that need some attention. Recurring issues with
no REAL fix. Not to expect much from my side as some of these issues are
not a real problem for me. However, these issues might be a real problem
for others.

I'll post the threads and hope someone has a real solution or at least a
final answer to these and ... as always ... your support is highly
appreciated and thanks in advance :)

*Window Position:* http://forum.lxde.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=31200
I do have the same issue by the way - Lubuntu 11.10 from a normal
installation - 32 bit.

*Downloading LXDE:* http://forum.lxde.org/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=31467
Please note that I'll handle this case but I'm just reporting that so LXDE
Team will look at this issue on LXDE website.

That's all for now but I might need more help soon with more threads.
I'm having some personal issues over here and I'm having hard time ... it's
really hard to help others and solving your own problems but I'm enjoying
something at least (which is kind of a relief) and I do hope I can go back
to my activities. I miss the mailing list :P

Thanks!
