Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Lubuntu games
A quick thought, a friend long ago requested that card games not be added to my remaster of knoppix, as there is some link to gambling. His religion is against gambling. It probably is not a big deal for many of us. But I think it wouldn't hurt to leave out card games. - Original Message From: Jo Gerb gerb...@googlemail.com To: Javier Mora cousteaulecommand...@gmail.com Cc: Lubuntu lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Sent: Sun, May 2, 2010 6:30:48 PM Subject: Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Lubuntu games Hm, I think that the completeness of lubuntu is quite important. We also aim at people who own an old computer and just want to write some letters and emails. Of course it's no problem for us to install games to our pc with lubuntu, but these people won't know how to do that. They will look for a 'games' section in the menu, and because there isn't such a section they will think that there are no games for lubuntu. Ok, there are hundreds of great games in the repos, but what if the users who never really worked with a pc won't ever look in the repos or even install something from there? We don't need many games. We already had the topic, I think we agreed on one tetrisclone (tint?) one game with cards and maybe also xinv3d. They are lightweight, have no dependencies and are just some kb afaik. The people who use lubuntu for a server know how to remove the games if they don't want them, but many others wouldn't know how to add them if we didn't include them in the final distro. So in my opinion it's clear: two or three little games and everone will be happy :-) Best regards, Jo Am 02.05.2010 um 11:53 schrieb Javier Mora ymailto=mailto:cousteaulecommand...@gmail.com; href=mailto:cousteaulecommand...@gmail.com;cousteaulecommand...@gmail.com: I think that games are a very personal thing. Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Lubuntu games
Hi, whilst not wishing to offend anyones personal beliefs, I have never considered card solitaire (also called patience) or free-cell to be something that could be bet upon, unless you wish to bet you win. Both games are single player. Regards, Phill. Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Lubuntu games
Have a look at the default games on puppy linux, which is also geared towards low-end systems. They even have a 3D Rubik's cube game. :) ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Lubuntu games
Well, maybe you're right and a couple of games would be nice. That F1 game looks nice, but it doesn't seem to be in Ubuntu's repositories, so it probably cannot be included on Lubuntu.
