[Lubuntu-desktop] Promoting lubuntu 10.04
Dear all, exciting times! As Julien has released the final version for lubuntu lucid, it is time to promote the release. We are having a lot of hits on lubuntu.net and blogs are pushing the news. We also need to get the message about lubuntu out in the mainstream. I formulated a press release which you can find on http://lubuntu.net/news/ [1] and in the wiki. If you would like to help, please correct errors (as I am not an English native speaker) and help translating the release into your language in the wiki [2]. There are also some images for promotion available from Rafael Laguna in the Artwork section here: https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Artwork/ . If you have any contacts to journalists, please send the release to them. It would be good to have journalists signing up the newly installed newsletter on lubuntu.net as well. Finally, there are a lot of forums that exist already. Please join your local Ubuntu forum and support people who install lubuntu the first time. In the http://ubuntuforums.org lubuntu related entries can be tagged "lubuntu". As this release is marked as a "final beta" be aware that this is an excellent release, but also be aware that development is ongoing and as more people start using lubuntu some bugs might appear. So, we need more developers who can join development actively. All the best from Vietnam, Mario [1] http://lubuntu.net/news/faster-lightweight-and-energy-saving-desktop-lubuntu-1004-stable-beta-released [2] https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Marketing/Press%20Releases ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Lubuntu 10.04 is released
Hi Julien, had a couple of people get the iso from torrents, they are not pulling in the correct beta (no Update Mananger, for example). Is this because the same file name was used for the 2nd beta3? Has the 'stable beta' got a new file name to ensure that it is picked up via the torrents? Regards, Phill. [Lubuntu-desktop] update manager
Hi, further to the earlier email, I can confirm that on the earlier 'beta 3' we had update manager, in the final iso it is no longer there. Are we no longer using Update Manager, or did it fall off the list somehow? I can either re-do the update instructions to just use Synaptics Package manager, or add a quick how-to for adding Update Manager back on, then using Update Manager. If you'd let me know which you'd prefer. [Lubuntu-desktop] Setup trash bin in LXDE
Hello. I've recently installed lxde to my Xubuntu 10.04, instead of xfce. LXDE is light and fast, much better than xfce. I've attached Lubuntu ppa repository, because i want more up-to-date file manager - pcmanfm2. But for some reason trash bin doesn't work in my install. Since trash bin works in Lubuntu LiveCD, i think, it is something with configuration files. And thanks PCMan for its great program, patience and dedication (Lubuntu project is a privileged one to count on you). And I must confess it's an honnor working with you, because I'm using LXDE since its FIRST release, always believed it could be a great idea! Well, I've got gvfs installed. Previously, I've been using thunar, and it still works fine with trash bin. When i open trash in pcmanfm2, i see it empty, and when i try to delete something, it shows message: " Some files cannot be moved to trash can because the underlying file systems don’t support this operation. [Lubuntu-desktop] Lose mouse and monitor setting after reboot or log-out in 10.04
Good afternoon (here), I have one issue that I hope someone can kindly point me in the right direction to. While everything is working fine in my Lubuntu desktop, after I reboot, power back up, or log back in I lost the settings for my mouse (I'm left handed) and my monitor's LCD Hz setting (@67Hz). I can manually change them back and all is well. Other desktops I've worked with (XFCE, Gnome) don't exhibit this problem but I was wondering if there's a way I could put this into some configuration file so I won't have to keep doing this every time. It's not a show stopper but it is a PITA. Best regards! Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Congratulations
May I also thank everyone who has made lubuntu possible. I know that I am frequently more a hinderance than a help, just think of me as the voice of a 'n00b' :-) My first try with lubuntu was at the start of February, whilst I know a lot of work had been done prior to that, the work you have all put in since the first meeting I attended on the 20th Feb has been astounding. People have been crying out for something like 'Lubuntu', now they have it. I'm glad the press release does mention things like server environments, it will go to negate any thought that lubuntu is only for old computers. Quite the opposite, it brings these older computers bang up to date, it is a massive credit to you all that you have managed this yet keep the tight contraints of RAM and CPU usage. To everyone that has taken part, either from the very start or joined later... Thanks, you've made one heck of a release. Here's to adoption as a Meerkat :-) Thanks, Phill. [Lubuntu-desktop] Roadmap for Lubuntu 10.10 and UDS
Hi, UDS (the Ubuntu developers submit) will take place in Bruxelles (Belgium) between 10 and 14 May [1]. To prepare it, I began to write some blueprints and goals I would like to achieve for the next release. You can see the (kind of) "Roadmap" on the wiki : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Lubuntu/Developers#Maverick Goal n°1 will be to be accepted as an official flavor. My personal goal will be to sync packaging with Debian. But we can set others goals for the next release :-) If you have other ideas or wishes, feel free to reply to the mailing list, or go/connect to the UDS to discuss them :) Any feedbacks from users will be appreciate :-) Regards, Julien Lavergne [1] : https://wiki.ubuntu.com/UDS-M ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
Re: [Lubuntu-desktop] Lose mouse and monitor setting after reboot or log-out in 10.04

See https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/lxinput/+bug/563530 for a solution to your mouse problem. Still working on the display settings. Hope this helps for now. No joy I'm afraid. Reckon it'll be best to wait a bit until an update comes around that'll fix it. -- In three words I can sum up everything I've learned about life: it goes on. - Robert Frost ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop Post to : lubuntu-desktop@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~lubuntu-desktop More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
