Have you tried

ubuntu-drivers autoinstall

and then

If he needs help, not sure if localization list is ok to ask for support
questions. Maybe there is an interest group not in official that made some
mailing list of their own.

CloneZilla is a nice tool. You can image your system, and restore to
multiple machines with same hardware configuration.

Re: [lubuntu-users] Bootable clone app for Lubuntu

2017-07-05 Thread Guang Chao
I haven't seen backintime. But whenever I need a historical filesystem,
where I can go back to any date I want, I utilize git. I just cron
something to do the backups at regular interval, then use git manually to
go back in time. git is pretty fast too.

I use backintime. It is very close to apple's time machine.

I have the OSX side cloned to an ext HD via Carbon Copy Cloner . . . and
I've noticed in other ubuntu-esque installs I have there has been a
 "Back-up" package installed . . . I believe in U-MATE 16.04, but right now
my PowerMac Sawtooth is not booting so I can't try it out--but looking
through the Lu list I didn't see anything named "Back up."

packages, including Clonezilla, and rsync . . . I don't have many files
that would need to be "saved" . . . what I would like would be a "clone" of
the present install, so that I wouldn't have to remember the boot params
and run a fresh install . . . but, would like to make a clone of the
Lubuntu side of the HD on an ext HD, then when I would need to install a
new HD I could boot from the clone and move the install back into a
partition of the new HD . . . . Not sure if that would work as easily as
it does from CCC, and/or whether the GRUB data would carry over, but, it
might be a time saver if it can be done via some package
