Thank's for pointing out this app. I haven't come across it - it looks very
promising
(even so the lute presets, listing as 13 string etc. are a bit silly. And it's
clumsy to have
to select from a long list of instruments).

 Cheers, RalfD

[LUTE] Sorry airywave = Airyware tuner

2018-09-24 Thread Anthony Hind
   Dear lutenists

I made a slip with the name of the tuner app, it is Airyware tuner
   and not Airywave tuner (perhaps I felt Airywave was a better name.

   Apologies for any time spent searching,

   Regards

   Anthony

[LUTE] Re: Fronimo titles

2018-09-24 Thread Daniel
Martin:

You should be able to use the normal “compose character” method: Hold down
the Ctrl key and type the appropriate four-digit number ON THE NUMBER PAD and
then release the Ctrl. Printing out a cheat sheet may be useful until you have
memorized the codes:
0223 = ß
0224 = à
0225 = á
0226 = â
0227 = ã
0228 = ä
0229 = å
0230 = æ
Etc.

The codes are also listed in the Windows Character Map.

On a notebook computer with a compact keyboard, this process will be more
convenient if you plug a regular keyboard into the USB port.

Regards,

Daniel Heiman

Martin,
You may want to ask the Fronimo list as well.

Thanks to all who responded - I now have a fix which (sigh) involves
using the Windows character map.

[LUTE] Airywave tuner

2018-09-24 Thread Anthony Hind
   Dear Lutenists
 I wonder whether any other lutenists are using the strobe and
   needle Airywave tuner app, preset for various lute types (and numerous
   other instruments) with historic temperaments (900 alternative
   tunings). The display is so easily readable on my iPad that I rarely
   reach for my turbo-strobe tuner, my Korg Orchestal or my Cleartune app.
   Has any other tuner user found this app useful? I am surprised not to
   have heard mention of it. It can of course produce reference tones for
   those who rightly prefer to tune more by ear than by eye.
   Apologies if this rings like an advert, but I have found it so useful,
   other users may in fact have found fault with it.
   Regards
   Anthony

[LUTE] Re: Fronimo titles

2018-09-24 Thread Denys Stephens
Dear Martin,
I have noticed that problem too - if you are using a PC you should be able to
copy and paste the characters you need from the Windows Character Map which
includes versions of all the letters you might need with the various accents
used in common languages. That has always worked for me!

Best wishes,

Denys

Hi All,

Does anyone know how to get accents in titles/composer names in Fronimo? It
seems you can't cut and paste text from elsewhere, you have to type it into the
dialogue box, which means I can get whatever font I want, but not accents. Is
there a workaround?

Thanks for any enlightenment,

Martin
