Thank you Arto - Actually I was looking for the tuning for the Citara
tiorbata in the same book (Meli, terzi libro)... Monica mentions the
chitara tiorbata stringing in
https://monicahall2.files.wordpress.com/2012/03/stringing2012.pdf but I
could not find information on the "Virgo" tuning. By deduction from the
other lutes in the Balleto detto l'ardito I find the following: F#5 E5
A4 C#4 G3 E4 unknown unknown E3. (assuming the lauto corista is in A...
although the violin part is in D minor... which would plead for a
corista in G and a bass lute in C, which seems to me extreme...)
Anyways, one octave down, the chitara tuning would be: E5 D5 G4 B4 F3 D4
[Un] [Un] D3. - I am wondering if the tuning might be a re-entrant one.
Any info appreciated!

Hi
If it is the same as in his "Libro Tertzo", the six fingerboard courses
are (assuming the 6th is in G):
G-c-e-b-e ("b" in the English sense)

Anybody knows what the "Cordatura del signor Virgo" is like? (It is for
archlute used by Meli)
