Win7 Lyx-2.0.2. Nobody but me gets rampant Appcrash
I installed LyX 2.0.2 on 5 lab machines that run Windows 7. These machines are accessed with remote desktop, that's the only complication so far as I can see. On several of them, after double-clicking LyX, I got the windows error screen saying the application was unable to start, and it offers to search for solutions. In the details button under that menu, I get this output. Problem signature: Problem Event Name: APPCRASH Application Name: LyX.exe Application Version: 0.0.0.0 Application Timestamp:4ed164e8 Fault Module Name:StackHash_1720 Fault Module Version: 6.1.7601.17725 Fault Module Timestamp: 4ec49b8f Exception Code: c374 Exception Offset: 000ce6c3 OS Version: 6.1.7601.2.1.0.256.48 Locale ID:1033 Additional Information 1: 1720 Additional Information 2: 1720cb9f631ae481210b84b18afa15c7 Additional Information 3: dfc4 Additional Information 4: dfc4d69767f91a8b4b40b3d1618b1b1e When I ran into this the first time, I thought it meant the LyX windows installer had failed somehow, so I re-installed. Several times. I've logged off and logged in again, and it appears that SOMETIMES LyX can start, but usually the system does nothing, sometimes offering that application has failed to start message with the APPCRASH detail. But sometimes there's no visible response at all. LyX does not appear in task manager processes. These are ordinary Win 7 systems, no special patches, with the exception that I'm working on them with remote desktop, I don't think there's anything unusual. And I'm really surprised nobody else is seeing this trouble. -- Paul E. Johnson Professor, Political Science 1541 Lilac Lane, Room 504 University of Kansas
