I think the only one of those failures introduced by my commit was:

INVERTED.LYXBUGS_export/examples/ja/lilypond_dvi

which my patch in the other thread (about uninverting) should address.

Do you think that the other failures were caused by this commit?

Note that I fixed the failures of the Additional manual in 2.3.x at
1962b8b and in master at e474554.

By the way, note that I'm only testing on the 2.3.x branch. I think that
testing on master is still useful, but I'm more concerned about 2.3.x
the next couple weeks.

I will be off from Tuesday for one week. I am sorry for that. Therefore 
I cannot work on a build for RC1 before.


Concerning the docs, please commit with change tracking enabled. I will 
have time before 2.3 final to distribute the new info.


Concerning Python 3, I again found an issue to day and I fear there will 
be more cases. Therefore I request to be allowed to build the installer 
for 2.3 final using Python 2.x and e.g. 1 or 2 weeks later release an 
installer that uses Python 3.6. That way users would have a version of 
LyX 2.3 that works well (tested many hours in real-life) in case the 
Python 3.6 installer uncovers issues.

compilation of LyX 2.3 fails with Python 3.6.2

our new release will work with Python 3.6.

Yes, and no. Yes this is needed - but simple. The patch is there.

The lyxconvert utility is not build with cmake.

This does not help. I am sure, they are the same. As said, manually using 
export commands

The former is due to the fact that the viewers can not find the fonts.
There are specific dvi viewers and ps post processors to deal with the
issue (this is at least what I understood from the google-translated
Japanese forums).

But in general, dvipdfmx seems to be the recommended way.

If I am using it manually I don't see it too. Somehow if using export from a 
script
the result is set to '1';

But if using the same command manually from a shell (e.g. tcsh)

Well, since PDFs created with ps2pdf show jibberish instead of Japanese,
and it works well with dvipdfm, it might not be worth the time to

Note that sweave is built-in to R (unlike knitr, which is a separate
package), so only the R version should be important. I tested with R
version 3.4.1 and (after updating) 3.4.2. I am using a PPA though so I
