LFUN Option Syntax

A couple weeks ago, there was some talk about reworking the syntax of 
the arguments passed to LFUNs. At present, it is a bit of a mess. Here's 
a suggestion: Why not just have these in the standard GNU form, with 
short (or even long) options? There are plenty of libraries for parsing 
such options, and some of these presumably would handle quotes and such 
automatically. Since they would only need to be called where there are 
options to be passed, that shouldn't slow things down appreciably, I 
wouldn't think.
