I'm building the Qt libs myself, too. I've made a script to automate this process. The top level directory contains * the lyx sources in lyx * the qt4 sources destilled from the source tarball * the build directory for qt and lyx compilation files * the install directory for the packaged results Perhaps you're interested in it, I'll attach it. To use the debug libraries, you have to control the shared library loader. You have to add DYLD_IMAGE_SUFFIX=_debug to your environment. With Xcode you'll do that with Edit scheme… of your project.
