Yes, this was an old feature that allowed to increase the left margin
of a document. It was one of these badly designed features that only
managed to creep in because one main developer (jug) needed it for his
own use. It seems that it got removed at some point (before 1.3?) and
nobody noticed :)

I guess it is another candidate for removal. I am not sure what to do
with old documents using this property.
  
This seems to be generated by lyx2lyx for 1.2-format files. Perhaps it 
is just as well to leave it.

Yes, this was an old feature that allowed to increase the left margin
of a document. It was one of these badly designed features that only
managed to creep in because one main developer (jug) needed it for his

I guess it is another candidate for removal. I am not sure what to do
with old documents using this property.
