Re: lyx on SGI

1999-02-10 Thread Harry Westfahl Jr.

Thanks for your reply Steve!

I managed to install the binary static version of LyX in another
machine that has IRIX 6.2. Now it is almost working! (Thanks a lot for
creating this binary version!) The only problem is that the icons are
not being displayed. Actually, on startup I get a lot of messages like
this:
In CreateXPM [pixmap.c 303] error converting: (Invalid file)
But it seems that Bernd ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) had the same problem
with IRIX 6.3. I'll wait to see if someone got the solution. Greetings,
Harry.

Hi Roland,

I am also trying to run lyx on IRIX-5.3.
I first tried to compile the source with no success. Couldn't find
the xpm.h! (and probably because I don't have gcc but only c++).
Now I tried to install the binary static distribution, but as I type
lyx, it returns the message : Killed.
Do you have any other sugestion??? Greetings, Harry.

re:local installation

1999-01-27 Thread Harry Westfahl Jr.

Hi all!

Here it goes the details of the local installation I am trying to
do.
I am installing everything on a directory ~/temp. The teTeX
installation was successful. The xforms library was also Ok. The
problem starts with libXpm: when I try to run the make file it complains
like "Badly placed ()'s.
 *** Error code 1 (bu21)"
Anyway, I've tried also to create a ~/temp/usr/ directory and
install the libXpm by hand as is distributed in ftp://ftp.x.org/contrib
(xpm-3.4k-irix.tgz) but still the ./configure program gives the message
error that the libXpm is not properly installedHave anyone tried a
complete local installation?? BTW, the system is a SGI running IRIX 5.3.
And, of course, I wouldn't try this local installation if I could count
on the system administratorThanks, Harry.
