Funny Reconfiguration
Hello there I've got a funny problem xith the reconfiguration command. If there is no layouts in my ".lyx/layouts" directory the reconfigure command find well the default layouts in the usr/local/share/lyx/layouts directory. but if i add some layouts in my diectory the reconfigure command only sees the added packages but none of the defaults ones. Did i make a mistake, is normal? thanks PS : i solved th problem by copying the default layouts in my .lyx/layouts directory. but it isn't great. Ian -- "Y faut liiirrreee... Two Figures side by side
Hi, is there a way to put two figures next to each other in a figure float. Subfigures puts them under each other. I want them with a caption and numbered with the other pictures in my text. At least the whole thing should get a number and a caption. For the individual figures a subcaption as with subfigures would be nice. But it would be best to have two figure floats next to each other. Thanx, Christian
Re: Two Figures side by side
hello, You can use "image float" to put figures side by side. First, create a figure float. Hit return (To have the image legend under the figure). Add the first figure. Move the cursor on the right of the figure and, Add the second image. If you want two other image under the two first, move the cursor on the right of the second image, hit return, Add the third figure, move the cursor on the right of the figure and, Add the last figure. You can, now, add a title for the group of figures or/and, add subtitles for each figure by using the subfigure menu (click on the figure to pop-up this menu). If figures are not side by side, change the size of figures. Now, you should have a group of figures with a title for the group (numbered FIG 3.1 for example) and subtitle for each figure (numbered a, b, etc for example). YC

Odd printing behavior
I've been converting an exam over to Lyx as a way of learning how things work, and have run into an extremely perplexing problem. The printing has changed. Whereas once when I printed out 2 pages I would get exactly what I expected (as the screen shows me), now I get a blank first page followed by a second page which runs past the allowable margin at the bottom. If I am printing out 3 or 4 pages, I discover that I have completely lost the intermediate pages that I have modified and I see unmodified material printed. Many modifications involve creating math formula representations of super(sub-)scripts and symbols used in chemical equations. The document is being formatted as a large enumerated list (as it is multiple choice for a final exam). Several questions are changed, then the format changed to enumerate for that part. Tables are being used when needed to list choices when the format demands it, with the table being nested appropriately (M-p arrow) to adjust other parts of the enumerated list. I've inserted an image or two and later deleted them. I have also occasionally changed document layouts to see what (if any) differences existed. The paper layout has been toyed with as well, changing from default to USLetter and changing margins (from blanks to 20mm and back). Nothing seems to change the new undesired behavior. I have also changed the enumerate back to standard on work done since the last recalled good point in my work. The only thing I have noticed is the appearance of what seems to be a light mauve colon at the left edge of the left margin. I don't know if this is normal or indicative of something I did to the document. Can someone offer any help in tracking down what happened to (what _was_) a beautifully developing exam?? lyx new releases - where are the patches?
I don't see you guys are releasing the patches between the versions since v1.1. It's pretty annoying downloading the complete distribution all the time. For example, I really need this 1.1.4pre1 release, since 1.1.3 crashes all the time (I can't even write my own name - it crashes on :-) So, patch me! :-) Ok, I tried downloading v1.1.2 and v1.1.3 on my account, and then diff -u. I've got the patch but when applied locally, something went wrong and I wasn't able to compile v1.1.3 successfully.
