I already tried Layout->Paragraph without success. Put \usepackage[nooneline]{caption2} in the preamble. But it is probably better to leave the caption centered, but also center the table (put the cursor just before the table, and open the paragraph dialog).

Slightly OT: OVERLAYING PostScript pages
Dear LyXers, I have a problem. I frequently have to write letters on my company's letter paper. This paper is produced by MS Word. All of my colleagues who decide to write on it use a template and then print it. I use Lyx and, given that it is not easy to code its aspect in LyX I have a postscript file of it which I print, then feed back the paper in the printer and overlay the text of the letter on it. I would be interested in overlaying the content of a PostScript file onto another. This way I could easily accomplish my purpose. Do you know of any simple technique to accomplish this? All my searches, so far, have failed. Thanks a lot in advance! Marco Bravi -- Marco Bravi [EMAIL PROTECTED] Dip. Ing. Chimica tel. +39-06-44585587 / 612 v. This are the results with varying programs: FileSize Comment test.eps 4239 original file test.eps.eps 4224 ps2eps test.epsi 9100 ps2epsi (bitmap previev included but not needed by lyx) test2.eps 5633 eps2eps (simple script using gv, renders text as bitmap) test[cr].eps 4211 epscrop (using ps2epsi and removing the bitmap) ps2eps and epscrop were discussed in the list and can be found in the archive, ps2epsi is standard, and ps2eps (+ a description) can be found at http://www.tm.uni-karlsruhe.de/~bless/ps2eps.html Guenter 2 -- [EMAIL PROTECTED]

Undocumented feature in LyX 1.1.6fix3
Dear LyXers, did anyone else experience this: During a tabular operation lyx crashed :-( It managed to do a emergency backup :-) Opening the emergency backup results in: Alert: Achtung Tabular Format <5 wird nicht mehr unterstützt. erwenden sie eine ältere Version von LyX (<1.1.x) zum konvertiere Verwerfen <-| And in the console: Tabular format < 5 is not supported anymore Get an older version of LyX (< 1.1.x) for conversion! header help needed
Dear LyX users, I am using the plain book layout for my document and I need to use the standard publishing-industry header: Lastname-PageNumber ie, Harris-1. Is this possible in LyX? If it is, please let me know how to implement it. Respectfully, -- Richard Harris Editor, Words on a Wire http://woaw-poetry.org

Yes, this works, but it would be so nice if in the next version we could just hit C-Enter and get a line break in a normal column! Robin

You can work around this if you do the following: 1. Open document in LyX and view as PS 2. Without closing the PS-document open a schell and change to /tmp/lyxtmpdir 3. Look for a file ending in .idx: do a find . -name "*.idx" 4. copy said file into the same directory as your LyX-file 5. run makeindex yourfilename.idx - for details check man makeindex - you can do some fancy stuff this way. 6. include the output into your LyX-document and throw out the index-tag If you change your index you have to redo the procedure. I also believe that RedHat 7.1 showed the same problem, but the SuSE 7.2 distrubution worked fine in this regard. Hope this helpes, Michael

Re: New German Spelling
Rainer, I am not too sure what the ngerman dictionary is but maybe I can be of some help. I am assuming that you are using ispell ? If you have the ngerman dictionary installed you can get LyX (ispell) to use this to check the spelling by edit->preferences->Lang Opts->Spell checker select use alternate language, and type in ngerman (If you have the ngerman dictionary installed, you should have a ngerman.hash file, all of my dictionaries are in /usr/lib/ispell/) I hope thats of some help Also why do you want an english dictionary instead of a british one ? Do you want american spelling ?
