Hello lyx-developers,

since I did not find any binary verion Lyx-1.3.3 for SuSE8.1 I try to do

Compiling the stable lyx-1.3.3 on SuSE8.1 with gcc3.2 on qt3.1.1

(see below)

The process stops very early during the first compilations. It seems to
be an error of the compiler!! Ups - never had a compiler error before!

Has anybody lyx-1.3.3 binary for SuSE8.1 with QT 3.1.1 prepared for
download?
Can anybody give me hints how to solve this problem to make a binary
lyx-1.3.3 for SuSE8.1?

Thanks in advance

I tried to use the pdfpages package in LyX but it
gave me errors.

I think it is because of this problem with pdflatex
not having a .cfg file. Anybody know how to
generate a pdftex.cfg file?

This is the output I got from pdflatex...

% pdflatex temppdffile.pdf
This is pdfTeX, Version 3.14159-1.10b (Web2C 7.4.5)
(./temppdffile.pdf
Error: pdflatex (file pdftex.cfg): cannot open config
file
== Fatal error occurred, the output PDF file is not
finished!

Thanks,
Robert

Either you have changed something in Makefiles, or some developer

Dear Karsten, dear readers of this list,
thank you for this valuable hint! I was not aware of the beamer class, it
seems to be a very powerful tool to create presentations.
However, after a first try I was not able to use the Latin Modern fonts (by
including the command \usepackage{lmodern} in the preamble - there are font
substitutions with Computer Modern fonts then) in conjunction with the beamer
class. Does anybody know a solution?

Thanks a lot for the hint again and for comments on the problem

I've created a page here:

but it really only contains a link to the homepage.

I've also invited the author to add more information to that page, but
anyone who likes to can of course upload layout files etc. Or for that
matter, simply add links to the page that points to the tarball.

Finally I solved this as follows:

In the preamble of the document in LyX I typed:

\usepackage{nomencl}
\makeglossary

Then, in the document where I wanted the Nomenclature I typed:

\printglossary

After this I exported the document into LaTeX format. Then, after closing LyX, at
console I typed:

pdflatex filename.tex
pdflatex filename.tex

This created the filename.glo file. Then, at console I typed

makeindex filename.glo -s nomencl.ist -o filename.gls

This created the glossary file filename.gls. Then, I opened the document in LyX. Then
I exported the document to pdf format. Nomenclature came perfectly!

Re: Line indentation

2004-01-15 Thread Christian Japes
Thanks to Uwe Stoehr I was able to do what I wanted to do.
The Subsubsection* was removed and a simple bold style was used.
All that was put into a table to align the parameters the way I
wanted them to be. The crucial point was to add the following
line of LaTeX in front of the table: \setlength{\tabcolsep}{0pt}.
Like that there is no irritating whitespace between the two
columns. Apart from that I switched of indentation for the
paragraph which contains the table so that it begins at the very
left border.

Either you have changed something in Makefiles, or some developer
went mad -- tr has nothing to do with compilation (see tr(1))
for yourself and this is absolutely nonsensical for it. Are you
sure, that you haven't played with {Makefile, configure, etc.}?

Have a nice day,

Docbook documentation...

2004-01-15 Thread Matej Cepl
Hi,

I would love to learn something more about editing Docbook with
LyX and after searching for available documentation, I found out
that actually I could help to make some simple HOWTO myself
(maybe just a page or collection of pages in LyX wiki). Just to
be sure, that I am not missing anything, can you suggest me
anything related to LyX and/or Docbook? I know about this page
http://bgu.chez.tiscali.fr/doc/db4lyx/, but it seems to be
slightly outdated and not totally simple.

Any other suggestions?
