SuSE-8.x-Help system
Hallo, the SuSE-8.x-Help system (which is under SuSE also the base for the KDE-Help) unfortunately has some major bugs. PDF output of superscripts not match Lyx/DVI output
I just realized that when I output a Lyx file to .pdf using pdflatex the superscripts are no longer in a smaller size font, but the same size as the main text. Hello. How can I have an enumeration list and then use the mdwlist package to suspend enumeration, insert some lyx code (yes, new enivornment), and then resume the enumeration? It seems like that the enumeration is ended, and then the resume command is operating outside of any \begin¥enumerate]...\end{enumerate} Is that possible? Is there any other way to get enumeration (without using the \setcounter{enumi}{3}, I want automatical enumeration ) like this 1. adasf 2. asfdaeh ae aer some other things, lyx code 3. foo 4. bar

I am using Ruurd's win32 Lyx1.3.3 on WinXP. Recently I played around with the converter section under Preferences, and now I cannot view my document in DVI (which should have the option under View/DVI together with other viewers). I have tried many things, re-install lyX, even re-install MiKTeX, but it is still the same. I only have View/pdflatex now, which does not even work! Don't play with the converters in LyXWin1.3.3! SuSE-8.x-Help system
Hallo, the SuSE-8.x-Help system (which is under SuSE also the base for the KDE-Help) unfortunately has some major bugs. So I wrote a little "SuSE-8.x-Help HOWTO", that shows, how to correct these bugs and how users also can integrate their own (html- and non-html) documents in this help-system and use it for fulltext-search. In one section it is also explicitly shown, how to integrate the LyX-Help into the Help-system. If you like have a look at: http://home.t-online.de/home/mb.schiekel/susehelp_8x_en.pdf or in German: http://home.t-online.de/home/mb.schiekel/susehelp_8x_de.pdf I did inform Mr. Cornelius Schumacher from SuSE, who did the most work in the Perl-scripts of the SuSE-Help, about these suggestions for error-corrections. with kind regards - Bernhard -- http://home.t-online.de/home/mb.schiekel/ GPG-Key available: GnuPG-1.2.2

I find this rather annoying. I can't seem to find anything > in the preferences > to control this feature. Is there anything I can do about it? As I figured out it rather has to do with the windowmanager than with lyx itself, I had the same problem with wm metacity on redhat 9, too. But when I changed the windowmanager by typing killall metacity; sawfish it worked just fine. Problem is that T haven't found out how to set sawfish as default wm, so I had to do this everytime I wanted to use mathed in lyx. Lately I've changed to suse8.2, here I use the double-click on the top of the window to minimize, and simply activating by touching (not clicking) with the mouse. These are settings in the windowmanager, but I don`t know how it's done anywhere else but suse. hope this helps, cu -kai- > > Much thanks for the help. > > > >
PDF output of superscripts not match Lyx/DVI output
I just realized that when I output a Lyx file to .pdf using pdflatex the superscripts are no longer in a smaller size font, but the same size as the main text. When viewed in Lyx and in the DVI output the superscripts are of a smaller font. Is there some way to force the .pdf output to look the same as in Lyx and DVI? Lyx/Mac 1.3.4, OSX 10.2.8 thanks, aric
mdwlist question
Please send LyX file to show me, because I can't get it to work. Is there any other way to get enumeration (without using the \setcounter{enumi}{3}, I want automatical enumeration ) like this 1. adasf 2. asfdaeh ae aer some other things, lyx code 3. foo 4. bar

In addition to the above, a few other things to check out: 1. Open a DOS prompt in the LyX bin directory and type sed --version. If it reports version 3.something, go to http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=23617_id= 16429, download sed 4.0.9 (or the latest 4.x release), and install that version of sed.exe over the one in the bin directory. Then try running configure again. 2. If Edit | Reconfigure still doesn't work (fails to produce a non-empty textclass.lst file), open a DOS prompt in your document directory, make sure the LyX bin directory is on your application path (type "echo %PATH%" to see the path), then type "sh C:/.../share/lyx/configure" (replace the ellipsis ... with whatever the path to the LyX share folder is) and see if that gets the configure script to run right. 3. Once the configuration script runs successfully, make sure that LyX is using the correct directory as your default document directory, by setting this in LyX's preference screen. (I find it's also a good idea to make sure the shortcut you use to start LyX has the LyX bin directory as its "Start in:" entry. In the Target line, you can change "...\lyx.exe" to "...\lyx.exe -userdir C:\my_document_directory" (changing that last path, obviously) so that LyX starts with your document directory set. Since LyX automatically inserts \begin{enumerate} ... \end{enumerate} it is not easy (or even possible?) to change to \begin{enumerate*} ... \end{enumerate*}. The attached layout file duplicates the article class with mdwlists added as additional environments. Should be easy to adapt for other classes. Put the file in ~/.lyx/layouts/ and run reconfigure. The you should have a new class in Layout..Document and the new environments in the pull-down menu. Of course you need mdwlist.sty in your Latex tree. Steve mdw.layout Description: Binary data
xdvi and colors
Dear All I am trying to use xdvi to view a document with colored parts. However, I cannot see those colored parts (they appear dark black). Is there some trick to circumvent this problem? Of course, I could produce a ps file and then view it with ghostview... but it is a slower solution. Thank you a lot in advance! Paul
Strange behaviour when using book(memoir) layout
I have tried using the memoir book layout with lyx 1.3.3, in the win32 version and lyx1.3.1 in cygwin and when starting a new lyx document with layout option article(memoir) or Book(memoir) the lyx window closes with a message asking to send a report to Microsoft in the former and with no message in the latter leaving the xfree86- cygwin window open. Any help appreciated. There were some issues regarding sed with Ruurd's port so I installed GNUWin sed No difference. thanks vivek
Ruurd's win32 Lyx Port - View dvi??
Hi, I am using Ruurd's win32 Lyx1.3.3 on WinXP. HELP! I don't want to export to pdf and open Acrobat to see the file everytime. It's so much more convenient to use yap viewer. I thank you, kind lyx-users, in advance. :) Best regards, Shokie - Sign up for ICQmail at http://www.icq.com/icqmail/signup.html
