It is impossible to make it right for all cases. DocBook is rarely used compared to 
(La)(Xe)(pdfla)TeX. The naming problem is th same as with short title, in some cases it is the short 
tittle but often only the optional argument.

Re: Lyx install fails in MiKTex install

Thanks Uwe.

This is with both the normal (large) and alternative installers.  The normal
small that downloads didn't work as it couldn't connect to the server(?).

I'm wondering now if that might just be the final message. The [NEXT] button
becomes active but after that Lyx outputs a message saying the MiKTeX setup
wizard was not completed. 
 
I had assumed it was a MiKTex install issue but I've now run the MikTex
install by itself, followed by the Lyx install and it all seems ok. 
 
I guess I was just expecting some more positive confirmation that the MikTex
install had completed successfully than the enabling of the [NEXT] button. And
that was compounded by Lyx complaining.

There's maybe something here that needs looking at?

works, then something is happening with the call from inside LyX.

OK, this looks like another issue. I think this fails because LyX is 
trying to export to a directory to which you do not have write privileges.



xdvi and evince both open the intro.dvi in /tmp/lyx_tmpdir.J18098/lyx_tmpbuf0, 
but not kdvi or okular

I have found evince is well behaved and accepts the .dvi from lyx.

  

Can you send me a file that fails this way?

But then you had the info that the MiKTeX installation failed. This can occur due to server problems

That seems to fix the problem with scrbook.layout, but if I create NewFrom
Template and select docbook_article.lyx, it then fails to find docbook.layout,
even though this again is present in the layouts directory.

I tried a ToolsReconfigure again, but without success.

Any thoughts?

Is it always this difficult to get Lyx up  running?
