Hello,


I would like to set the main caption beside a float figure and the captions of 
the subfloats under the corresponding subfigures. I don't really understand how 
I can realize this. I attached an exemplary lyx document.

Hello lyx users:

I have a question on float placement.
I am working on a document with sections, and I start every section
on a new page inserting an InsertFormattingNew page
before the section title. But lyx occasionally places floats on the
same (new) page above the new section title.
How can I prevent this so that the section would start
on a completely new page and the float would be inserted
on a previous page?

For some pointers see Section 11 in LyX Essentials [1]. If it still
doesn't work I would also look into the afterpage package.

Have you looked into Help  UserGuide  Section 4.6?

Try to use Clear page instead of New page.

Of course that's the problem!  How silly of me.

I changed those modules back in the days when the internationalization was not 
complete 
and then simply forgot about them...

Spell checker not active in 2.0???

I got Ubuntu 11.04 going a while back, with Lyx 2.0.  Very nice.  But
the spell checker isn't working -- when I go to the Tools menu,
spellchecker is grayed out.

I have aspell installed, and it claims to have an applicable dictionary
-- yet no joy.

What am I doing wrong, or not doing, or whatever?

LyX 2.0 is not using the external aspell binary.
It has to be compiled in. Did you compile LyX yourself?

It depends the class (*.cls) that you are using.
Sometimes it can be modified by using renewcommand in the preamble.

I had the same problem then ToolsPreferencesLanguage SettingsSpellchecker
In spellchecker engine select Enchant, also enable Spellchecker continuously.

the spell checker isn't working -- when I go to the Tools menu,
spellchecker is grayed out.

I had the same problem then Tools>Preferences>Language Settings>Spellchecker
In spellchecker engine select "Enchant", also enable Spellchecker continuously.
