frontmatter placement

2013-06-03 Thread Wolfgang Engelmann

Hi,

in a koma script book I start with

book cover page (inserted with PDFPage)
frontmatter (in ERT)
Titleetc

*The pdflatex output
gives me a first empty page with page number 1
cover page
Title with no page number
upper/lower titleback with no page number
dedication with no page number
empty page with no page number
table of contents with page number V
and the following pages of list of figures, tables to page number XI
Afterward with the Introduction it starts with 1 -

*If I place the frontmatter ERT before the book cover page (inserted with
PDFPage) I also get an empty page with page number 1

*If I place the frontmatter ERT before the table of contents I still get an
empty page with page number 1 before the book cover page and the roman
numbering starts at the table of contents with page number I
(which is probably the way to do it, is it? FIRST QUESTION)

So the SECOND QUESTION is why I get an empty page with arabic page number
1 before the cover page. I guess it has to do with the book cover page
inserted with PDFPage. I can live with it, but just for curiosity...

captionbeside figure

2013-06-03 Thread Wolfgang Engelmann
Hello,

since captionbeside for a figure is not (yet?) implemented in LyX, I tried
it with ERT

...text (figure [cap:kalbluezo-sw]) ...
this is in Lyx cross reference cap:kalbluezo-sw
(maybe I have to use here also ERT, but I don't know how)

in ERT:
\begin{figure}
begin{captionbeside}[short legend]{long legend}
\end{captionbeside}
\label{cap:kalbluezo-sw}
\end{figure}

gives:
! LaTeX Error: \begin{figure} on input line 373 ended by \end{lrbox}.

I am using Koma book style

Has somebody a working example for me, which I could try?

I'm not sure about how to get a list of Decisions in the exported
document, and I don't think you will be able to get a list in the LyX
document. But getting the Decision environment is easy. Just look in the
file theorems.inc, which is installed with LyX, and copy out the Theorem
style. You can use it to create a module, or else copy it into Document
Settings Local Layout. Just don't forget the Format tag:

Format 35
Then put the modified version of the Theorem style.

It is possible to get a TOC for these things. Google latex theorems

PDFpage is treated by TeX similar to an image. \frontmatter cannot handle this. The best is to
create your front page directly with KOMA-script (LyX's thesis template is an example). KOMA comes
with the document class option titlepage that allows you some special formatting. For more info

Problem using R's table package with knitr.

2013-06-03 Thread John Kane
I was having a look at the tables package in R and tried to run an example in
LyX. It works fine until I try using the suggestion to use the booktabs()
command in the knitr statement.

The code works fine in R.

I assume that I am in conflict with another latex package in LyX?  Any

It's not a serious problem as I don't actually need to use the tables package;
I was just playing around with tables  trying to understand the syntax and
decided to try it in LyX.

You should not print booktabs() in a chunk with results='asis',
because that will generate invalid LaTeX code in the output. You can
use invisible(booktabs()) or foo - booktabs() to avoid printing.

Or request Duncan (the package author) to return invisible(save) in booktabs().
