Perhabs Bug with beamer in Version 2.1beta

2013-10-31 Thread Uwe Ade
Hello,

im working with Lyx 2.1beta1 from 3. Juli.

I open an existing lyx file with a beamer-presentatin and generating a pdf-File
and this works fine.

No i startet to add some new slides in the existing file and generate a new
pdf-file. The old slides works well, the added slides look not gut. They are
put of a lot of sides.

I look for the reason an i found out, that in lyx the old slides has red
brackets on the left sides. The new slide in default has no brackets. I have to
tab each item manual to get the bracket.

I think if Lyx needs this brackets to put the items on one side, they had to be
per default as i write a new item

The two example show the situation.

Yes, this change of behavior is intended and was needed for the rewrite of
the layout. Either use the Frame (Rahmen) layout or nest the contents.
Please consult Hilfe Spezielle Handbücher Beamer-Präsentationen for
some guidelines to use the new styles.

Sorry, slightly of topic, but…

I don't want to upgrade to Mavericks because of the crippled Sync-Services.
With Mavericks one cannot sync it's iPhone via USB-Port anymore.
You have to use your iCloud account at Apple to sync your contacts and

OK, I have missed indeed this point, since I have adopted iCloud for
limited synching for some time ago (I do not sync my mail, and my calendars
are on GCalender, so I do not use iCloud either). I understand that this is
1/ inflexible; 2/not very respective of privacy. I must admit that the
comfort of invisibly synching all my necessary information between all my
iOS and OSX devices reduced my vigilance on this aspect of this mechanism.

I don't own any iOS devices, so syncing is not important to me. It also
means, improvements (which is a matter of opinion, of course) that helps
OS and iOS communicate is unimportant to me. The two Mavericks features
that interest me, the tabbed Finder and Tags, I already have in Mountain
Lion via 3rd party software. And, I've read elsewhere of
software/Mavericks issues.

So, I'm in no hurry to update, if at all.

All of you Apple users, you have no problem with this privacy attack?

Privacy issues are the reason I avoid any cloud involvement other than
web browsing as much as I can. That's limited to shopping, online
banking, and a Dropbox account where nothing personal is stored, no
backups, nada. I use it as a pseudo FTP site for large files rather
than try to email or sumpin'. G My computers are networked, so I
don't need it for transferring data between systems.

Format 31

as the first non-comment line (so right before Input...). Maybe that

Yes, this change of behavior is intended and was needed for the rewrite of
the layout. Either use the "Frame" ("Rahmen") layout or nest the contents.
Please consult Hilfe > Spezielle Handbücher > Beamer-Präsentationen for
some guidelines to use the new styles.

Re: Anyone used Lyx on Mac OS X Mavericks

2013-10-31 Thread Richard Talley
Backup and sync (contacts, calendars) are two different things.

Apple has removed the sync services framework from OS X Mavericks.

Look here and scroll down to the 'What you can sync' section:

https://support.apple.com/kb/HT1386

A lot of people are unhappy with this:

Re: Anyone used Lyx on Mac OS X Mavericks

2013-10-31 Thread Murat Yildizoglu
OK, I have missed indeed this point, since I have adopted iCloud for
limited synching for some time ago (I do not sync my mail, and my calendars
are on GCalender, so I do not use iCloud either). I understand that this is
1/ inflexible; 2/not very respective of privacy. I must admit that the
comfort of invisibly synching all my necessary information between all my
iOS and OSX devices reduced my vigilance on this aspect of this mechanism.

Sorry, slightly of topic, but…

I don't want to upgrade to Mavericks because of the crippled Sync-Services.
With Mavericks one cannot sync it's iPhone via USB-Port anymore.
You have to use your iCloud account at Apple to sync your contacts and
calendars.
I didn't find any alternate solution.

I use it as a pseudo FTP site for large files rather
than try to email or "sumpin'".My computers are networked, so I
don't need it for transferring data between systems.

RE: error on lyx

2013-10-31 Thread santiago suarez
Thanks Richard. I did it, but the problem persist. Will it be about my laptop
system? The friends who introduced me to lyx ( a student of my section at the
university where I teach) run it in his laptop and it works, so I dont know
what is happening. I will try to work in my lab terminal, however I'd like to
fix the problem in my laptop so I could work out of the university. Thanks. I
am sending the layout file, modified as you suggested me.

Works fine here. You should add a format tag, though:

Format 31

as the first non-comment line (so right before Input...). Maybe that
will get it working in your case. If not, then try running LyX from
a terminal. You'll get more information there about what the problem
is.

There's no newline at the end of the file. Try adding one (or several).
