We are proud to announce the release of LyX 2.1.2.1.

This is an emergency release for OSX only. It resolves problems that affect
LyX on OSX 10.10 (Yosemite) and, indeed, any program that depends upon the
passing of environment variables to sub-processes. Only users of OSX 10.10
 should upgrade to this version.

LyX is a document processor that encourages an approach to writing based
on the structure of your documents and not simply their appearance. It is
released under a Free and Open Source Software license.

You can download LyX 2.1.2.1 from http://www.lyx.org/Download/.

The remainder of this file describes the 2.1.2 release, which was the
second maintenance release in the 2.1.x series.

LyX 2.1.2 is the result of on-going efforts to make our stable version
even more reliable and stable. We have fixed a number of bugs and made
a number of improvements. These are detailed below. We strongly encourage
all LyX users to upgrade to this version.

The most important fix here is that we believe we have resolved the problem
that led several users to experience seemingly random crashes with 2.1.0,
sometimes resulting in dataloss. (This was bug 9049.) These crashes generally
happened when the user attempted to save a file containing a table, usually a
fairly complex table. A seemingly unrelated bug report concerning a crash when
trying to save a default template (bug 9236) led to the solution. That bug has
 also been fixed.

Do report your bugs, then! It really does help make LyX better, often in ways
 you might not expect.

So, if you think you have found a bug in LyX 2.1.2, open a bug report at

really is a bug, you can e-mail the LyX developers' mailing list (lyx-devel

We hope you enjoy using LyX 2.1.2.

Re: [ANNOUNCE] LyX 2.1.2.1 Released

2014-10-31 Thread Christopher Menzel
I did a clean network install of Mountain Lion on a 2013 iMac last
night, upgraded immediately to Yosemite, and then installed MacTeX 2014
and LyX 2.1.2.1 first thing. After starting LyX from the GUI I still got
the previewing bug where none of my .cls files could be found during the
compile. As in earlier versions, I had to start LyX from the command
line and reconfigure to fix the problem. Starting LyX from with the GUI
now works normally.

No such problems with an installation of 2.1.2.1 on an established
install of Yosemite on a rMBP (on which I'd done the command line trick
with an earlier version).

We are proud to announce the release of LyX 2.1.2.1.

This is an emergency release for OSX only. It resolves problems that affect
LyX on OSX 10.10 (Yosemite) and, indeed, any program that depends upon the
passing of environment variables to sub-processes. Only users of OSX 10.10
should upgrade to this version.

lyx+beamer+beamerspot.module usage

2014-10-31 Thread Neal Becker
I installed beamerspot.module
http://www.spitzmueller.org/tools/lyx/beamerspot.module
But not sure about usage.

I found Edit/Text Style/Spotlight. This produces a yellow oval. But how do I
customize?

According to http://wiki.lyx.org/Layouts/Modules:

"The form and color of the spot can be modified globally or per token."

How?

dictionary not found

2014-10-31 Thread Marcelo Acuña
hello,  I have lyx 2.1.2 compiled in debian linux.  I can`t get that
spellcheckers work. I have installed all components of myspell, enchant
(development librarys included) and dictionarys but when I start a run of the
spellchcker I get a dictionary not found message. All other functions of lyx
work properly.

Does enchant work from the command line?

   enchant -l

should list all the spelling errors in .
