Ah I see. So this is just a one-time issue and it's not that any update
of MiKTeX would force us to release a new installer. That's good to
know.

OK.

Because I triggered a redevelopment of the way how packages are
installed. Therefore the command line parameters to do this will be changed.
However, I see that no MiKTeX installer with these changes has been
published yet. I will act when this is the case.

Many thanks for testing and finding this regression, Eric! I can
reproduce and I will do a bisect later tonight to narrow down the issue.

Well, since you found the above regression, you're helping to improve
LyX so that means you're on the LyX team, so you're actually thanking
yourself, which frankly I find a little arrogant :)

Thanks for the help,

This is the signature file to check if the file you downloaded was
not modified.

This is about Polyglossia and system fonts, so one may try this but it may
be any font on your computer...

More important would be a fix for the test (making it a warning only)
in Polyglossia.

Why "force"? When there is a MiKTeX update the repositories refuse to
work with older MiKTeX installations? Why isn't the MiKTeX installation
itself just updated without LyX needing to do anything?

Would the bundle be the only binary affected or would the installer
binary also change?

Thanks,

LyX 2.3.0RC2: Bug in advanced search and replace

2018-01-31 Thread Eric Barkan
Under 2.3.0RC2, I find that the advanced search and replace pane does
not respond to keyboard input.  The text cursor appears when I click on
the pane, but I can't enter text directly into the pane or into a math
box in the pane.  I do not find this problem in 2.3.0RC1.

I have built 2.3.0RC2 on Fedora 27 using both QT 5.9.2 and QT 4.8.7 and
I have also installed it on a new Dell laptop using Windows 10 as well
as on a win 10 virtual machine.  All of these installations show the
same bug.

Now for the good news.  I'm a long time LyX user and I don't know how
I'd live without it.  Thanks to everyone on the LyX team for your
ongoing hard work.

I see that MiKTeX released a new major version yesterday. Therefore some
package repositories were not yet synced.

@ Scott: The MiKTeX update will probably force me to release another
installer for RC2. I'll have a look as soon as I find time.

You can install the small RC2 installer to upgrade. Teh bundle only
contains MiKTeX and is therefore only necessary for the first
installation of LyX.

If you encountered problems with RC1 I recommend to uninstall RC1 first
(keep MiKTeX) and then install RC2.
