Re: Windows users: can you test the 2.3.0 installer?

2018-03-03 Thread Emile Lunardon
It's an old habit that probably goes back to the first versions of LyX on
Windows (I used to work with LyX on Cygwin before). It seems to me that the
bundle had been introduced so as not to have to worry about installing, at
the good version, a whole lot of accessory software like the image
converter, python, dictionaries etc., as well as a minimal version of LaTeX
(which is however insufficient in some cases).

RE: texlive or miktech

2018-03-03 Thread Baris Erkus
I have been using MikTeX on Windows and very happy with it.

Easy to istall, easy to handle…

Updating, installing new packages, package maintenance, I had no major problem.

Occasionally, when there is an update or change in MikTeX system it gives error
but in a day or so it is always fixed.

It gives the impression that the maintainer is always on top it.

I have used MikTex with WinEdt, Texmaker and Lyx and had no issue.

I have also used my own macros and was easy to install.

I did not use the other TeX systems but if you chose MikTeX you will not be
sorry for general use.

Which one is recommendable for the beginner: texlive or miktech? It
should contain texlive-extra and/or texlive-publishers

Good to know. Why were you using the bundle when you already have MiKTeX
installed? Was your expectation that LyX would overwrite your current
MiKTeX installation with the bundled one, or that they would be
installed side-by-side?

Thanks for that great research, Klaus, and all of those details! I'm
CC'ing Guillaume. He has worked on this feature so might have an opinion
on this thread. We might want to eventually open a trac ticket for this
so that it does not get lost in the mail archives.

Yes, the translation was done later (you'll probably also find it in
rc1 and/or rc2).

Where would I find the Lyx 2.3? I used

LyX Version 2.3.0beta1 the Customization Help did not have a fully
translated one. I am including a tar.gz file which contains the
subsections  5.2.2 -5.2.4 which I tried to translate.

sr-vorl Springer class

2018-03-03 Thread Wolfgang Engelmann
In trying to use Springers sr-vorl under lyx, I have compiled
sr-vorl.ins which gives me the cls-file and the template files
frontmatter_sr-vorl.tex, mainmatter_sr-vorl.tex, backmatter_sr-vorl.tex
and hauptdatei_sr-vorl.tex.

I have now to produce the sr-vorl.layout file for LyX and thought, to
use svmono.cls and svmono.layout and see, whether I can produce the
sr-vorl.layout by comparing it with the former one.

Alternatively, I could import the various tex-files into lyx and work my
way through. It would, however, be better to have a layout file for
those who use Springer Research Publications. The easiest way is, to ask
Springer, which I have done. But no answer so far.

Anybody out there who has produced already this sr-vorl.layout file already?

Wolfgang

From the README:

This LaTeX class provides a template for books to be published at
Springer Gabler Research, Springer Vieweg Research, Springer Spektrum
Research, Springer VS Research or Springer VS Forschung. It can be used
to produce monographs in different formats and "several-authors-books"
fitting the conditions of the aforementioned publishers.

You find the class documentation in file sr-vorl.pdf. The source code
can be found in sr-vorl.dtx and sr-vorl.ins. By compiling sr-vorl.dtx
with pdflatex, you get the documentation, while compiling sr-vorl.ins
gives you the cls-file and the template files frontmatter_sr-vorl.tex,
mainmatter_sr-vorl.tex, backmatter_sr-vorl.tex and hauptdatei_sr-vorl.tex.
