I cannot reproduce on Mac either.

But there are reports sometimes about LyX’s settings not being persistent.

There are user errors:

https://www.lyx.org/trac/ticket/11558

or these are either Qt problems or LyX - I cannot say.

An FYI: I've run into weird behavior when I build versus when I download,
which appears to be the result of some bits of Python's Qt infrastructure
getting caught in my build process. I wonder if that could be one of the
fishy components?

I see, then this is bug specific to mac only.
There must be something different when lyx is launched via its icon and
when clicking just on the file.

CC-ing lyx-devel, Stephan might have a clue what's going on.

Yes I've used impressive. I don't think it meets my requirements for
presenting from home: the screen to present and the screen with the
notes are in 2 different X windows, so I can share one of them.

Thanks, Joel. Seems rather unlikely in this case, as Python is not
involved in the icons transformation.

What really puzzles me is that some icons are right and some not in
Stephan's screenshot (as they all are subject to the very same
process).

Did you add \setbeameroption{show notes on second screen=⟨location⟩} to

Re: beamer dual

2021-03-03 Thread Patrick Dupre
Hello,

OK

Ideally, by default (pympress), I would I have the current slide on the left
the next slide on the top right, and "annotations" in the bottom right.
I would like to have the notes go in the annotation pad.
If I set: \setbeameroption{show notes}
the notes come into "next slide" (and lost of course the next slide)
I tried several combinations of setting, but I never got the right one.

Any idea?

Thanks.

I do not experience your problem. The toolbars might get reset once upon a time
(for example if you are upgrading to a newer version of lyx) but generally
stay set consistently across sessions (linux here).

If you
1) close all your lyx sessions
2) open new one and set toolbars acccording to your needs
3) close session
4) open new session again the toolbar is lost?

Please keep post on lyx-users list.

Yes, there are problems with subdir detection, IIRC even the add problems were
reported.

Some fixes were committed for upcoming lyx 2.4, but the discussion about the
final shape stalled, hopefully we'll finish before 2.4 lands ;)

Using Lyx with git (instead of RCS)

2021-03-03 Thread Robert Neumann
Hello,
does anybody have experience using LyX with git?
My observations with 2.3.3 on a mac 10.13
- I have to add a lyx file manually using the terminal and "git add“ otherwise
I get an error message
- If the file is moved to a subdirectory, it is not working anymore, so it
seems to work only, if the file is not moved in a subdirectory

(-is there a way to have the version-control-menue showed permanently, I have
to activate it manualle everytime

thanks!

I doubt it's related to the tmp directory.

When you check out the file is should be read-write, once you check-in it
should-be read-only.
If this attribute is not set properly, RCS will fail.

So my first guess is that while Nextcloud transfers the content of the file it
does not properly transfer read-write attributtes of the file.
Can you check it?

beamer dual

2021-03-03 Thread Patrick Dupre
Hello,

I am preparing a short presentation for a colleague. I would like to have
the regular slides on the standard screen, and on an auxiliary screen, the
notes/text that he could use.
Or at least to have the "notes" attached to the slide, but not visible during
the presentation.

Is it possible?

Thanks
