Having just finished writing an article in German on my Mac (running on the most recent version of macOS 12.3.1), I discovered several strange problems that concern the quote character (") - Shift 2 on a German keyboard: a) While I can write it in LyX, I cannot search for it. I can put it into the search box, but the LyX editor will not find quote marks in the document. (I know that under Document" -> Settings I can choose various types of quote signs; I left it to the standard, which (in German) means typographic quote marks. As for this problem, it is https://www.lyx.org/trac/ticket/11462, right? I have just suggested a way to resolve it at the ticket. Maybe you want to chip in if you have further thoughts. b) Only the opening quote marks are being exported when I export my LyX document to either Word (XML) or Markdown format. Yes, I know it sounds strange, but that is how I discovered the problem. Everything works well when exporting the document to pdf (via LaTeX), but not in the other export formats. I couldn't find those two formats in the export dialog. Please remind me where I can find them. I succeeded in exporting with "HTML (MS Word)". There I see both quotes (beginning and end) but they are actually not Word's typical double quotes. So that is possibly another bug. So something seems amiss. Since I searched through the mailing list archive, I know that this hasn’t been mentioned here before, which puzzles me even more. Could any of you please confirm that you don’t have the problem - and then help me narrow down where the problem on my machine is? I’d be so grateful! Thanks and best wishes, Andreas Andreas, thanks for the report. At least for upcoming lyx2.4 and with advanced find it will be no problem. Committing the fix now. Kornel Just to be sure, this is a fix for (part of) a) but not b), right? Daniel -- lyx-users mailing list lyx-users@lists.lyx.org http://lists.lyx.org/mailman/listinfo/lyx-users

mhchem
What do I miss? A more convenient way to typeset chemical formulas is to use the command \ce that is available when the LATEX-package mhchem is installed. After inserting \ce to a formula a new blue box appears where chemical formulas can be inserted in an intuitive way. I inserted \usepackage{mhchem} in the preamble! \ceCO2 \ce CO2 \ce CO2 no blue box appears I found > \usepackage[version=3]{mhchem} But still no correct output Wolfgang hchem-version3.lyx Description: application/lyx -- lyx-users mailing list lyx-users@lists.lyx.org http://lists.lyx.org/mailman/listinfo/lyx-users
Specifying a package in Module declaration
I want to write a module that calls for the geometry package and inserts page layout commands to my document, once it is chosen to be used. Of course, I can do AddToPreamble \usepackage{geometry} \geometry{..page layout commands go here..} EndPreamble But I prefer the \usepackage{}` command to be inserted automatically, just like Requires packagename does. I read in the Customization manual that there is this optional argument for the Module specification (section 5.3.2. The Module declaration), for example: #\DeclareLyXModule[endnotes.sty]{Endnotes} It doesn't add to my preamble the \usepackage{endnotes} command automatically. If so, then what is good for?-- lyx-users mailing list lyx-users@lists.lyx.org http://lists.lyx.org/mailman/listinfo/lyx-users

When adding an index in a LyX document, the title "Index" (or its modified name) does not vertically align with other section titles in the output. There is more vertical space above it. This can also be seen in the German and English LyX manuals, compare pp. 193 and 191 or pp. 177 and 175 respectively. Could this be related to the two-column-layout of the index? Could |titlesec| modify the index title in LyX? How can the index further be modified, e. g. how can I add a short prologue between the title and the first entry? I was also a bit confused about the index program. The User Guide says that xindy is used by default, but in the log I only find makeidx. In the global preferences the processor makeindex is selected. Thanks! Adding \usepackage{imakeidx} to the preamble patches the different spacing of the title, it also gives the opportunity to specify \indexprologue{Text}. -- lyx-users mailing list lyx-users@lists.lyx.org http://lists.lyx.org/mailman/listinfo/lyx-users
