Viewing Bold Calligraphy characters in pdf
I am using LyX 2.04. I inserted a bold calligraphy 'J' as an inline equation,
and it looked fine. [The sourece code is $\mathcal{\boldsymbol{J}}$]
However, when I viewed the file in pdf format, what appeared was a bold
italic 'J' in the default font. In contrast, normal (not bold)
calligraphy 'J' displays properly in pdf. To attempt to fix this problem, I
used the MiKTeX Package Manager to install the Calligra package, used MiKTeX
Options to update formats and refresh FNDB, and finally reconfigured and
restarted LyX. Nothing changed. Perhaps I need to install a different font
package. Any advice would be appreciate.

You might try inserting a different font spec;
e.g., type `I\fontsame font id=substitute font name'.

error. The three files listed in the log above are present on my computer,
and the Latex Configuration file claims that they are present,
specifically, • pifont (Zapf Dingbats). Found: yes.
Nonetheless, I have attempted to solve the problem by running LyX
tools/reconfigure and also MikTeX Update, both as administrator. They
appeared to run successfully but did not eliminate the problem. My pc
operating system is Windows 7, which is up to date.
