Selective reference exclusion from bibliography

2013-01-09 Thread CP
Hi,

I'm using BibDesk for my references. I would like to include references in the
text of a document (using BibDesk) but have some, not all, not show up as part
of the bibliography in the PDF file.

Thanks!

Problem with customized lists

2012-07-30 Thread CP
I would like to use roman numerals for lists and be able to cross-reference them
in the document.

Example:

i) blah
ii) blah

The elements in the text i) and ii) refer to gibberish.

I added the following line to the preamble

\renewcommand{\theenumi}{\roman{enumi})}

This achieves almost exactly what I want, except that the list has dots after
the parentheses, e.g.

i). blah
ii). blah

Does anyone know how to remove those?

Thanks.

My current 'dirty' solution is to add the references that were not used in the
text separately somewhere in the document and white them out. I'm still hoping
for a better solution..

In LyX's citation dialog, select the item Add to bibliography only
from the Citation Style combo. You can add all those references to a
 single citation instance.

If you want really all entries of the database listed, then left-click
on the BibTeX bibliography button and select All bibliography
 entries from the Contents combo.

Thanks guys. Juergen: that works great! Many thanks.

How to turn dynamic links (hyperref?) on for equations but off for references (literature)?

2012-07-29 Thread CP
I'd like to have dynamic references in the document for equations (and be able
to adjust their formatting, no boxes around equation numbers, set color, etc.)
but at the same time turn off this feature for references (literature)?

Thanks.

I have a multi-line formula that I would like to be shown with some text in
front. Example:

The math is as follows

X = Y + Z
2X = 2Y + A

The whole passage is supposed to appear together on one page. Help?!

Re: How to get two authors with centered institutions below on title page?

2011-12-13 Thread CP
What I'd do is enter an author's name in the Author environment, then use
ctrl-Enter to keep the next line in the same environment. Enter the
institution on that line new line. Then either space down (with the [Enter]
key) and repeat or keep all lines together in the same environment with
 ctrl-Enter.

Thanks Rich. My question wasn't very clear I realize. If I read your reply
correctly, it is a solution to having authors and their institutions appear one
below the other. I'm trying to have two authors names side by side on one line
and on another line underneath the names have their respective institutions
appear centered below their names. Does that make sense?

Sure. Look at TLG2 for information on using either minipages or set the
authors as two columns. I think the use of minipages will look better.

I'm afraid I don't know what TLG2 is. I tried fiddling around with minipages but
didn't quite get the desired look. Where/what is TLG2?
