Hi lyx users,
I have solved this one on my own, I write you in case someone else has
the same problem.

After updating to lyx 1.5.1 the program was crashing with this message:
terminate called after throwing an instance of
'boost::filesystem::basic_filesystem_errorboost::filesystem::basic_pathstd::string,
boost::filesystem::path_traits '
  what():  boost::filesystem::exists
Aborted

and exit code 134.

Checking with strace it turned out that the directory /usr/share/local
had some problem, actually it had not the execution permission. Running
the command:
chmod -R a+X /usr/share/local
as root, solved the problem.

I hope it helps.

New lyx icon

Dear lyx users,
during the last years I grew increasingly annoyed by the (in my opinion)
horrible lyx default icon.

Finally, during last rainy sunday afternoon I draw a couple new icons in
SVG (using inkscape), they aren't great, but I think you may be interested.

You can find the pack here
http://people.sissa.it/~paulatto/lyx_logo.tgz. It contains two
flavours: hicolor and (a bit like) crystal.

Note that the smaller size PNGs (22x22, 16x16) aren't just a render of
the SVG but have been edited a bit by hand with the Gimp)

How to make the TOC appear in the TOC

Dear LyX users,
I have a small problem I wasn't able to solve myself: I have a docume
(book class) structured in the following way:
+ sec*: Abstract
+ Table of Contents
+ cha: Chapter 1
+ ...
+ cha*: Appendix
+ ...

Using some \addcontentsline{toc}{section}{...}} I was able to include in
the TOC even the un-numbered chapters and sections, but I found no way
to include the TOC it itself.

If I add a \addcontentline just *before* the \tableofcontents it is
indexed in the previous page, and of course if I put it just *after* the
\tableofcontents it is indexed in the last page of the TROc wich is
three pages long.


This problem won't bother me much if the abstract was *after* the TOC,
but with the current layout it feels like a hole in the TOC and I'll
really like to fix it.

I have passed through several latex manuals, but I wasn't able to find a
solution; do you have any hint?

Building statically linked LyX (linux)

Hi,
I have tryed to build a completely statical version of LyX, in order to
be able to run it on linux platforms that lack several libraries
(precisely I was lacking libXinerama.so.1), and could not be upgraded
due to minimal hard disk space.

I have tryed several different configuration, and command line arguments
for ./configure but anytime I put the -static option in either CFLAGS,
CXXFLAGS or LDFLAGS it cannot find qt libraries anymore.

I have also trued to get some inspiration from the instruction to build
LyX non cygwin, that, if I understood correctly, is statically linked.

Yes, I have installed qt3-static.

Even if I have some prohramming experience I am not a programmer, so I
am stuck; the configure script is far too messy for me to try other tricks.

Do you know if there is any way to build a statica LyX? There has been
any prior effort to do it?

least) only the user manual has been translated, while the extended
features haven't. It would be really odd to have a mixed language document.
