Hi, I am trying to create a slide with text and graphics side by side: three itemized lines on the left, and a small figure on the right. I've tried \twocolumn{text}{\includegraphics{}} and also tried floats, but the graphics doesn't show properly. Any advice? Best, Eran

Re: Index entries: only the first instane appears.
I can send a truncated version in private. Is this ok? Just to clarify, do I have to mark every instance of the same index entry myself for it to appear in the index? Is it not enough to mark every term once?

Index entries: only the first instane appears.
I've marked some words or phrases in my text as index entries and added the index at the end of the document. But if an indexed term appears, say, on pages 3, 26, and 154, the index will list only the first instance, i.e., page 3. I'm using 1.4.2-1, Miktex 2.5, Memoir. Any advice is appreciated!

Adding A Type1 Font Family
I've had good, quick results using both the provided latinmacro and writing my own -drv.tex files. If you have the font properly encoded from bitstream, adobe, or linotype, it should be relatively painless to follow the guide from P.L. If I recall, this typeface has a roman only -- no italic, bold or SC? Begin by assembling the necessary .sty and .etx files in one directory. You could copy the first few lines from the installation guide documentation. Process the .tex file, then create the .tfm files and the map, and disseminate the files in their proper directories. If you plan ahead, it's really not bad. Best regards, Eran

cv - another try
Friends, Thanks for the helpful advice (http://www.mail-archive.com/lyx-users@lists.lyx.org/msg47716.html). I'd like a custom layout for my cv, to suit a certain -- shall we say corporate -- convention. I hope Lyx can deliver. I need the contact details and other information to appear in the left margin (about 1.5-2) -- and I need it in a gray box or separated by a line going down the length of the paper. Is it feasible? Yours, Eran

Friends, I'd like to update my cv and I wanted to try out the packages Curve and modernCv. I thought I installed them using Miktex's package manager. I updated, I reconfigured lyx, but I still can't see them listed among my document classes. Any ideas? Also, if you have a suggestion for another way to design a good looking cv, please share. Regards, Eran

Re: Page numbering (in memoir)
I've written my thesis in memoir, and I'm almost ready to print. I chose Ruled for my page style, but I'm required to put the folios for the abstract, acknowledgement page, and table of contents *in the footer, centered*. The title page must be empty (this I've accomplished with /\thispagestyle{empty}/). I've tried to use /\pagestyle{plain} /but in the the second page of the abstracts and table of contents, the folio is put in the footer *outside*. package titlesec provide control over header and footer. package fancy too. you can find this two package in standard distribution of latex. Marcelo Thanks, Marcelo, But I'd like to do it from Memoir, without loading a different package. Is there a simple way to keep the page number in roman numerals centered at the footer through the abstract, TOC and until the beginning of chapter one? Thanks, Eran

lyx and otftotfm
Hello, I'd like to use otftotfm to convert some of my opentype typefaces for use in lyx (windows with miktex). I'm not sure, however, where to install the files. When I run the program it doesn't find the various files it needs, and I get encoding 't1' not found. The manual wasn't helpful because there is no windows support. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks, e.

replacing with a protected blank
I have a legal document that I converted from ooo (.odt) to .lyx It has a lot of periods that must be followed by protected blank, for example: The /Dancing Goats Act/, S.O., 1997, c. D.12, ss. 30--31. Here, c. and ss. must have a Ctrl+space after them. How do I search and replace? Do you use the lyx environment, or start a text editor and do it there? Also, unrelated (I might need to start a separate thread, I know...) How can I use a separate font for my footnotes, say I want to use Sabon {lsbx} where the default font is, say {charter}?

That's useful advice, thanks! Do you know where I should look to implement this trick for nonstandard fonts? Typeface for Insert URL
Hello! /Insert URL/ does a fine job of typesetting the link, but it doesn't use my default typeface. I do I force it to? Many thanks, mail.k
oldstyle figures
Hello! I'd like to use old-style figures in my text (including quotations, etc.) but I don't think they're appropriate for headings (see Bringhurst) and for my footnotes. I'd like a way to: 1. set the default to (myfont)j and define footnotes and headings to use (myfont)x or 2. set the default to (myfont)j and define standard and quotations to use (myfont)x. Any ideas? Thanks! m ail.k
quote size
Hello! Here's a third noob question in a row: I managed to set my text in 1.5 spacing and quotes in single. My text is set in 11 pt., but I'd like to use a smaller size. I'm using memoir, but I don't have to. Thanks! mail.k
Re: quote size
(oops) yes: body text in 11 and 9 or 10pt for quotes. thx.
Re: Typeface for Insert URL
Thanks, Uwe I guess what I want is \url or \nolinkurl, since I need the text to contain the actual link. But no matter which option I used, I still got a different font from the default font (Sabon typeface). I am using memoir class with \usepackage{memhfixc). Any ideas? Regards, Eran /Insert URL/ does a fine job of typesetting the link, but it doesn't use my default typeface. How do I force it to? The problem LyX's hardcoding of the typeface: \IfFileExists{url.sty}{\usepackage{url}} {\newcommand{\url}{\texttt}} see bug 1520 http://bugzilla.lyx.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1520 To get the right typeface use the command \href (this requires the package hyperref in the preamble). I attached an example. regards Uwe
Re: quote size
Thanks Paul, I was referring to a quote style in order to format large number of quotes in a consistent manner. I learned how to control the spacing separately from the body text --- how about point size? regards, Eran Well, to control the font size of body text, follow the suggestion advanced by Kevin. To control the font size of quotes, select the whole quote and then Layout -- Character

Re: different line spacing for text and quotes
Thanks, Paul. I do have lots of quotes and I'd like to use a consistent style throughout. I've come across the setspace.sty package, and also this: \makeatletter \renewenvironment{quote} {\begin{spacing}{1}\list{}{\rightmargin\leftmargin}% \item\relax} {\endlist\end{spacing}\noindent\hspace{-0.333em}} \makeatother but being a newbie, I don't understand which one should be used in what circumstances. To clarify, I need all the text to be 1.5 spaced, except for the quotes (and footnotes), which should be single spaced (and with a smaller font). Thanks for the help. Eran
