FYI : I use Lyx 2.3.2 with High Sierra (10.13.6), without any slowing down for
the forward and reverse search.

2018-12-20 Thread Robert Betz
Stephan,

I agree. It seems to be an issue with Mojave. I cannot be 100% sure as I have
not tried the new version on an old version of the Mac.

Mojave seems to have a lot of checks (for security reasons I guess) on program
interactions, and they seem to slow things down a lot.

2018-12-16 Thread Robert Betz
I have noticed that Lyx V2.3.2 under Mac OSX 10.14.1 (Mojave) has a very slow
forward search. Seems to take a couple of seconds.

This was reported by another user as well. In addition he was having problems
with the reverse search working. Reverse search on my system is working well,
and does not suffer the delays of the forward search.

To see if I get this right:
I have the text “Some text”. I click on the Text Style button (without marking
any text) and it is marked Medium. I alter to Bold, double click on “text". It
reverts to Medium (as is the format of “text”. I change to Bold and click apply

reverts to Medium (which is the style of “Some”. Change to Bold and click apply

Re: [ANNOUNCE] LyX 2.2.3 Released

2018-12-15 Thread Dr Eberhard Lisse
Thanks,

but I noticed a real nuisance on Mojave 10.14.1

When I click on the Text Style button it uses default which I do not
like (and not the default one :-)-O). When I manually change them and
click on marked text it makes the change as requested. When I mark some
other text for the same formatting it resets this again.

This is a serious change from previous behavioir and not a feature.

How can I fix that?

I'm always hesitant to complain about this brilliant piece of software but,
for me (Mojave 10.14.2 Beta) with this version, forward search (LyX ⟶ Skim)
is still very slow and reverse search (Skim ⟶ LyX) appears to be
nonfunctional. I've of course checked all the usual settings.

[ANNOUNCE] LyX 2.2.3 Released

2018-12-14 Thread Richard Kimberly Heck
PLEASE NOTE: Windows binaries are not yet available, due to a late-
discovered bug. Installers should be available within a few days.

Public release of LyX version 2.3.2
===

We are proud to announce the release of LyX 2.3.2. This is the second
maintenance release in the 2.3.x series.

You can download LyX 2.3.2 from http://www.lyx.org/Download/.

LyX is a document processor that encourages an approach to writing based
on the structure of your documents and not simply their appearance. It is
released under a Free and Open Source Software license.

LyX 2.3.2 is the result of on-going efforts to make our stable version more
reliable and more stable. One main fix involves a crash with external
viewers
on Windows. We have also fixed a number of problems with the output of
right-
to-left languages, thanks to the involvement of users. There was also an
infinite loop bug connected with the separation of environments that has
been
fixed. But, for the most part, the fixes here are incremental. Please
see below
for a full list.

If you think you have found a bug in LyX 2.3.2, please open a bug report at
http://www.lyx.org/trac/wiki/BugTrackerHome. If you're not sure whether it
really is a bug, you can e-mail the LyX developers' mailing list (lyx-devel
 lists.lyx.org) and ask.

If you have trouble using LyX or have a question, consult the documentation
that comes with LyX (under the Help or Apple menu) and the LyX wiki, which
is at http://wiki.lyx.org/. If you can't find the answer there, e-mail the
LyX users' list (lyx-users lists.lyx.org), where you will find an
active community of people who are ready to help.

We hope you enjoy using LyX 2.3.2.

The LyX team.

Hi,

when copying text from a Web page or even mail message into the buffer
I get this error message:

An error occurred while running:
$$s/../MacOS/tex2lyx -f "Buffer_importStringyqx693.tex"
"Buffer_importStringyqx693.lyx"

and after clicking the OK button the copied text appears.

MacOs 10.12.5 (and 10.12.4)

Can anyone reproduce? And if so, why would it use tex2lyx for plain text
in the Copy Buffer?

Otherwise I have not encountered any issues in production in my practice.

For some reason, the source files seem to have disappeared when I
uploaded the binaries. I'll fix it when I get home.

Hi,

I cannot find any 2.2.3 release (neither tar.gz nor tar.xz) at
ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/stable/2.2.x/
It seems that 2.2.3 is available only from devel (
ftp://ftp.lyx.org/pub/lyx/devel/2.2/ -- modified: May 08 2017)

I'll wait, and thanks for this new release.

The original email is just plain text. MacMail is highlighting it as a
link. Thunderbird does the same. I see it even in your email. This is
something those programs are doing: They think it's a URL (without an
explicit protocol, which they assume is http), so they highlight it.
It's not a URL, though, so they're just wrong in this case.
