Hi Scott, thank you for the reply.

I have only ACM-sigplan.lyx and ACM-siggrph.lyx but I think I need ACM-SIGS.lyx
(Are ACM-sigplan.lyx and ACM-SIGS.lyx the same ?)

However I can't compile ACM-sigplan.lyx because I have an error about
sigplanconf.cls file,

Thanks :)

I don't know if they are the same, but you can download the class file for
sigplan here:

Also, you may want to take a look at the lyx wiki page for sigplan, it

Because ACM is a conference class. So you have to specify the conference
as I did in the attached file.

LyX 1.5.7 and 1.6.0 ships an the template file ACM-sigplan.lyx, so I
recommend to use this file to start.

The problem was the lack of the three "}{" needed in the author
environment. Can this be solved adding the extra empty line when the
author only has a name but no afiliation or email?

No. But you should try again when LyX 1.6.0RC4 comes out.

I know now what your problem is. You are using LyX 1.6.0RC3, but the layout
file you can download from the Wiki page, is for LyX 1.5.x and not for LyX
1.6. (I designed it after RC3 was released and in the meantime we changed
the layout file format and the needed conversions scripts are therefore not
 in RC3.
With the next LyX 1.6 test release we ship a ACM-layout that works for LyX
 1.6.

So it should work when you use lyX 1.5.6.

Sorry Uwe, I never meant to point the problem towards tex2lyx. As a
matter of fact, I had a bad problem with my texlive installation, due
to some files left over the /etc/texmf/updmap.d folder that didn't let
me make the upgrades needed to render the PDF. I have solved the
problem of the fonts and I will download the new version of the
layout.

The only worrying point is that LyX never reported the fonts problem
while rendering the PDF. The PDF was rendered, but as the file sent to
the list show, it was badly generated. I tried compiling the tex file
by hand and the fonts problem was shown as messages. Why could this
happen?

Why could this
happen?

Re: ACM

2008-10-15 Thread Julio Rojas
I have moved from my Ubuntu PC where everything was alright to my
Vista PC. I installed the class file and the LyX layout. Reconfigured
LyX, reconfigured MikTeX and when I try to open my file a message
appears telling me:

The document class sigplanconf could not be loaded.

If I try to manually set the class (via Document -> Configuration) to
ACM SIGPLAN, the same message is presented and another one that says:

Unable to set the document class.

Any ideas?

You need to do the opposite: First refresh MiKTeX's file name databasse, then
reconfigure LyX.

This is the ouput generated by LyX:

Unable to convert C:/Program Files/LyX

Check your installation and try Options/Reconfigure...
Error: Could not load class

The document class sigplanconf could not be loaded.

It seems like a LyX can't read the layout. Any ideas?
