It compiled with out any probs in Ubuntu Dapper (i386) and the checkinstall package is here: http://home.exetel.com.au/randombits/lyx_1.5.0beta1-1_i386.deb this used configure: $ ./configure --with-qt-dir=/usr/share/qt4 --enable-optimization=-O3 --prefix=/usr/local This does not check for dependencies. Just compiled on my laptop/centrino under kubuntu. I have used scons, as suggested, after cd'd into development/scons: scons gettext=auto mode=release frontend=qt4 boost=auto nls=yes spell=auto prefix=/usr/local -j3 all scons install I have noticed that the scrollbar does not match the theme (baghira) of my kde desktop. Just compiled on my laptop/centrino under kubuntu. I have used scons, as suggested, after cd'd into development/scons: scons gettext=auto mode=release frontend=qt4 boost=auto nls=yes spell=auto prefix=/usr/local -j3 all scons install I have noticed that the scrollbar does not match the theme (baghira) of my kde desktop. In the process of changing this, my Sans Serif screen font got changed to 'A.C.M.E. Secret Agent'. Looked pretty silly. For some reason, lyx decided to default to that for sans serif. Manually switching it back, everything is fine.
