If it is Wayland on Linux it is not possible yet because the painting occurs on an intermediary pixmap and this kill subpixel aliasing. I have a patch that can allow to avoid that, at the price of painting the whole screen at each update. I am not sure at this point whether the performance cost is acceptable.
