Günter, I did try that, but nothing happened. I saw it in the manual but I couldn't get it to work on my stuff. I tried M-x math-size displaystyle then typing and typing then implementing M-x math-size displaystyle. I'm using lyx 1.3.3-win32. I haven't tried it on the linux machine yet.
