Cursor Size in RC1?

2011-03-23 Thread Greg Kise

Hi LyXers,

There was some discussion of making it possible to change cursor size
in LyX2.0RC1 (especially needed for Mac). Was this done? And if so,
how do I do it?

I have 300+ pages to edit and the one pixel cursor is making me bug-
eyed ;-).

Thanks!

Yes, it is done. You can find it in

However, you'll have to wait for RC2.

Good question!

Other applications I think basically invert the background colour under the
letter after the cursor?

In any case, I don't know the answer to the problem here, I've not looked at
the source code for LyX in years and I wouldn't know about the impact of any

is essentially unsolvable (given the potential effort required, that is).
However, it _is_ the one thing that does bother me about the LyX interface,
albeit not enough to make me want to use anything else.

In Emacs at least, the insertion point is logically placed just to the

I was going to answer prev. that you should be able to change this in

was wrong -- perhaps it was with Macintosh that one has a system
setting for cursor size/appearance (including the insert cursor).
Anyway, doesn't it make more sense to handle such system interface

For Qt frontend at least, this is hard-coded in
src/frontends/qt2/qscreen.C. At line 79, in member function
showCursor, you could change that pretty easily:

cursor_w_ = 1;
To
cursor_w_ = 2;

You'll have to recompile LyX afterward of course ;-)

Hope that helps,
Abdel.
