2018-06-01 Thread ah
Dear lyx-users,

does anybody know, how to align the subheadlines in the table of content
left (see attachment)?

The text class is sr-vorl (a Springer Publisher Vorlage -layout >
<https://ctan.org/pkg/sr-vorl?lang=de>
https://ctan.org/pkg/sr-vorl?lang=de).

A solution for this is given among the posts at

Second question. Is it possible to shrink the distance between the
items in the table of content.

Which items? Everything is (should) be possible. For the KOMA-script,
all of the details are explained in the manual. For example at:

We can only guess without a minimal example!

Looks like you do not use any numbered sections, in this case you will need
to insert the chapters (and set the running heads) "per hand", i.e. with raw
LaTeX commands (called ERT in LyX).

The LaTeX FAQ will help with the needed commands.

2. On some of my pages, the page number apear on top of the page, and there

Are you sure? Normally, none of the *-headings are supposed to appear in the
TOC (that's what the star insicates, amongst others).

Sorry, I have got a problem to update my LyX news files.
May be I misinterpret, but in "Document parameters ", "Numbering and TOC"
window, I find :
Examplenumberedappears in TOC
Part*yesyes
section*yesyes
subsectionyesyes
subsubsection nono ...
and when I click on the "toc" button inside the document it is exactly what
is appearing. but never in the pdf doc.

If you want unnumbered sections in the TOC, you have to do something else.
Here are some possibilities:

(1) write
\addcontentsline{toc}{chapter}{}
in TeX-mode just below the Chapter*. If it's a Sction*. replace "chapter"
by "section".

(2) use KOMA-book as a class and use "Addchap" and "Addsec" instead of
Chapter* and Section*

(3) if you have only unnumbered, no numbered headings, just use Chapter and
Section and set "Numbering" to "no" in Document->Settings->Numbering & TOC

Thanks for the tip, I was afraid to use the "slider" to modify the numbering
to "no".

thanks again

I've heard people recommending "The Latex Companion" 2nd Edition
for awhile now. I noticed it on the Safari ebook service. There
is a 14 day free trial period. A person can download several
sections or a chapter, it is allowed. Also in the US, most
libraries have a subscription and many educational institutions
(international too) have access.

I downloaded all of Chapter 11 because the Xindy people said
that was the best Howto around, using the browser's "save as".
There is a keyword search engine for the book.

Knuth used to give $2.56 to anyone who caught an error in
his book/Tex. The authors give away a computer book every
six months to whoever finds the most errors. I already
found a typo just reading the book online. Chapter 6.

There is no implication about asking on the list, just
sharing a way I found to spread my hustle.

Mark words and click, in menu bar, on E button or en

How can I add unnumbered chapter into the automatic table of content?

2005-08-26 Thread Leon Chen
Hi,

The TOC automatically generated by lyx is very helpful. But it will
not include the unnumbered chapter, or section.

I used BOOK class in my thesis, but there is no such 'abstract',
'acknowledgements' 'appendix' 'user guide' formats in it. So I use
unnumbered chapter (Chapter* ) to title these sections.

It works fine, but the shortcoming is that they will not appear in the
TOC, the same situation happens in Bibliography.

Any comments for this? Maybe I can hand in thesis just with the TOC
without those sections, but I just want to be perfect.

Thank you for your attention.

Unfortunately, this only works, if you want all sections unnumbered.
What would you do if only Acknowledgements shall have no number, say?

I'd say it happens for popups which do not have an input field. In
fvwm there is a special option for some older applications (xwebster
and sxpm) which have popups which do not accept focus (for weird
reasons related to window manager hints). The problem is that
'xwininfo -bw' does not give different info for these popups and
'normal' ones.

I'd say you would have more chances to get help on a kde mailing
list...

I use kde. yes, it's also the case for math popup (but there the popup is
much smaller and I didn't notice it.

may I have inadvertently modified anything in lyx config file? I have this
only with lyx.

I cannot reproduce that. Are you sure it happens only with this popup?
What window manager are you using?

table of content

2000-06-20 Thread jdd

for now a long time, the edit table of content feature gives a table that
insists to stay in front of lyx.

I remember time where a clic on the lyx window made lyx come in front and
the table below.

this is very unpleasant and make edit/table of content nearly unusable -
one can't type in lyx with the toc windows up.

is there any mean to cope with this? (well, the new "plan" (in french,
sorry, don't know the english label) menu is very nice).

(tanks)

from my point of view it's only possible with the global
setting of tocdepth to 2 and than with the latex command

\addcontentsline{subsubsection}{any text ...}

behind any subsubsection-line for the chapters, which
have more than subsection-depth

Ok but how can i do for just 1 chapter and not for the
others. For example, i would like to have:

Depth 3 for Chapter 1
Depth 2 for Chapter 2
Depth 3 for Chapter 3

Because some sections in chapter 2 are too repetitives.

layout -> document -> depth (on the lower right)

you can choose the depth for TOC and in general

Table of content

2000-04-07 Thread Yann Collete

Hello

I would like to known how to change the depth
of a table of content just for a chapter.
I have tried
\setcounter{tocdepth}{2}
in the chapter but it doesn't work.
