But it seems that this only happens if I import a jpg file. If I import a ps file or create my own file in xfig the background is perfectly white. In xdvi or gv I hardly can see the effect but its grey if I print it. Wait! Maybe you mean something different! You see different backgrounds in Lyx right? (I also have that) But this has no influence on the output. What I mean is the background in the printout! Do you also know that kind of problem? Thies

Is it always grey from xfig and white from Gimp? What I got, is that randomly some figures have LyX's yellowish background and some have pure white background. This seems to be very random and different even for different times when I load a document in LyX. (All my figures are drawn with Xfig).
Re: xfig pictures rotate and have strange colour
Hello, I don't think an upgrade is necessary. I use to work with xfig 3.2 and it works fine so, do you draw your xfig in portrait or landscape (menu View->portrait/landscape) ? AFAIR, 3.2beta exported to eps "as is" whatever the portrait or landscape selection (which I find personnally logical because that's what I need most of the time, and I can use the same export in reports and slides). >From patchlevel 2 (i.e. when we lost the mouse shortcuts in the row of menus to shift to a more conventional set of popups), it seems that the eps export is sensitive to the orientation of the figure as it was with versions <3.2. -- Jean-Pierre

Re: xfig pictures rotate and have strange colour
Hello, It depends on the xfig version. With an old xfig version (don't remember the version number), the eps exported figure is always rotated 90 degrees. With a "fresh" distribution of xfig (3.2 or 3.3), this behavior doesn't happened. xfig pictures rotate and have strange colour
Hi, If I insert a picture (in a float) in lyx 1.1.6fix which I produced or manipulated with xfig, the picture is always rotated at 90°. I exported the picture as eps in xfig before and can´t see where I pushed a rotate button... :) A bug? A mistake? Another thing about xfig: the program seems to use a different "white" than other grafic programs (Gimp im my case). For example I import a picture in xfig, ad some words, export it to eps, import it in lyx: the result has a kind of greyish background in the output although it was white in gimp and xfig. A bug? A mistake? Or a question in the wrong mailing list ;-) Thies
