Re: Wiki page regarding the transition to LyX 2.2.0 (from a user point of view)

2016-06-10 Thread CarLaTeX
Hi Uwe,

to tell the true the problem I encountered is not a bug in LyX 2.2 but a
mistake (I made) now displayed while before ignored (even
if present), hence it is an improvement, now LyX is more picky!

I've just another similar question to ask, so I'll try bug tracker soon.

Don't worry, I'm not offended hahaha! If you like, remove my page without
problems.

Ciao!

Wiki page regarding the transition to LyX 2.2.0 (from a user point of view)

2016-06-08 Thread CarLaTeX
Hi LyX users,

I've created this wiki page: https://wiki.lyx.org/LyX/Userview220

My intention is to collect some little (resolvable) problems a user may
encounter when he compiles in LyX 2.2.0 a document created with previous
versions, explaining how to solve them.

I started with a problem I have encoutered, if you like the idea, please
add yours.

Thank you,
bye!

Carla

Does anybody know how to use \tikzexternalize, storing the files in a user's dir and not in a LyX temp dir?

2016-07-19 Thread CarLaTeX
I'm working in Windows 10 with MiKTeX distibution.
If I write in my preamble:
\usepackage{tikz}
\usetikzlibrary{external}
\tikzexternalize[prefix={Figures/}]
all works well, but the externalized files are stored in a LyX temp dir,
hence I loose them when I close LyX.
If I write:
\tikzexternalize[prefix={"C:/Users/MyName
MySurname/Documents/LaTeX/Figures/"}]
I get the error:
! I can't write on file `"C:/Users/MyName
MySurname/Documents/LaTeX/Figures/MyDoc-figure0.md5"'.
I've also posted a question on TEX SE, but till without answer:
http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/319721/tikz-externalization-with-absolute-path-and-miktex-distribution
Could anyone help me?
Thank you!

It is possible to get rid of these two lines of code automatically put in the preamble by LyX?

2016-08-30 Thread CarLaTeX
I like LyX and find it very convenient but I would like to have more
freedom when I set my preamble.

I’ve managed to move all the packages that I need in a preamble.tex file
(then inputed in LyX preamble), so I can easily edit it inserting all the
options that I like and put them in the order that I want.

However, I can’t avoid LyX from putting these two lines of code, in the
automatic preamble:

\pdfpageheight\paperheight

\pdfpagewidth\paperwidth

There’s a way to do it or is it impossible? (I'm using LyX 2.2.1).

Attached the .lyx file and the .tex file optained when I export it in LaTeX
(pdflateX).

Thank you!

Best regards,
Carla

I use Verbosus (https://www.verbosus.com/latex.html) on Android, it's good,
you've only to install the app. Unfortunately, the free version has the
limitation of only 4 project at one time.

Otherwise you can use directly Overleaf (https://www.overleaf.com/) or
ShareLaTeX (https://it.sharelatex.com/project).

For other solutions, see this post on TeX.SE:

The rule is very silly, indeed!
The LoF is useful when you have a lot of figures, not on the contrary!

Sorry, I did "reply" instead of "reply to all":

--
The culprits are these commented lines in your uuthesis.cls:

%\newif\iflistoffigures
...
%\listoffigurestrue
...
%
%\def\listoffigures{
%  \iflistoffigures
%\newpage
%\thispagestyle{empty}
%\addcontentsline{toc}{chapter}{LIST OF FIGURES}
%\mainheading{LIST OF FIGURES}\vskip 3pt
%\ifnoisy \typeout{List of Figures.} \fi
%\@starttoc{lof}
%  \else
%\ifnoisy \typeout{No list of figures.} \fi
%  \fi
%}

If you leave out all the "%", you'll get your LoF.

However, I think you have to ask who provided you the uuthesis.cls, maybe
they have commented those lines because they don't want LoFs in that kind
of thesis.

Good luck for your graduation!

Same problem when I installed with LyX-230-Installer-005.exe.
This time, editing the registry key was not enough, I had to uninstall and
re-install Acrobat.
Just for info.
Bye.

It worked changing "AcroviewR18" to "AcroviewA18" (the opposite they say).
Thank you!

LyX 2.3.0 installation broke Acrobat

2018-07-14 Thread CarLaTeX
I have Windows 10, with a TeX Live 2018 distribution updated today.
All worked perfectly before I installed LyX 2.3.0.
Now, when I compile a document, no pdf is shown nor created, and, if I try
to open a previously created pdf with Acrobat, I get "Fatal error: Acrobat
failed to connect to the DDE server".
Can anybody help me?
Thanks,
Carla
