Re: [M100] Model T upgrades
Hi Ray, When I did the first run of NADSBoxes in 2008 / 2009 timeframe, my up-front cash expenditure was $13K for 240 NADSBoxes. This is when I was having them built and assembled in China. I probably still could have them built and assembled there, though it is a bit more challenging since I no longer live there. Turns out I am traveling to China next week and will be visiting Shenzhen for 5 days! YEA!!! Maybe I could visit my old haunts while there (in fact I am looking forward to it). One of the concerns with NADSBox is that I need to update the layout a bit to select a different SD card socket ... the socket used in the last round of NADSBoxes was acquired from a Chinese source with no real part number or way to track it. So the footprint is specific to that part which is no longer available. I am working actively on Woolly which would replace REX and in a way, NADSBox, via TPDD access to a host via WiFi. But this is still a big development effort, both in terms of hardware and software. If you still wanted to put up the cash after reading this, we probably wouldn't need to build 240 NADSBoxes as demand isn't what it was in 2009, but it would still be in the $8K - $9K range I would guess for NADSBox alone. I don't know for REX. Ken On 7/28/17 7:05 PM, ray gordon wrote: I'm willing to put up the cash necessary if Ken & Stephen would be willing to do another run of NADS & REX. I think it would be cool. You could also do this a smart phone app. The cassette file I/o has the advantage of being integrated into the rom. That's why I made CloudT emulator interface with google drive and such via hooked cassette I/o commands. -- John.

Re: [M100] Virtual cassette idea
Jeez, storing a huge WAV file for the several hundred encoded bytes reminds me of the cryo-flux approach to backing up floppies vs FC5025 which reads floppies like floppies. How about "encoding" the audio into a file, then playing the saved encoded file back as audio? More work for sure, not sure if it's even possible (seems like it should be). Maybe you could make the bottom of peg as thought it were sliced through at an angle and the bottom would rest flat on the desk? Then you wouldn't need rubber feet. -- John.
Re: [M100] Model T upgrades
I think we could probably find the actual rubber feet or a contemporary equivalent, it's even easier than I thought...with measurement vars it's like 3 lines of code. Looks like this page shows two different styles, one is tapered so it probably doesn't fall out as easily. http://munk.org/typecast/2013/02/17/tilting-for-visibility-travel-typewriters-and-trs-80-model-100s/ I have no originals but I've wanted a set, someone get me measurements and I'll crank it out. //taper style toin=25.4; height=2*toin; topdia=.30*toin; botdia=.20*toin; cylinder(h=height, d1=topdia, d2=botdia, $fn=24); //straight style toin=25.4; height=2*toin; dia=.20*toin; cylinder(h=height, d=dia, $fn=24); I cut the eraser end off a couple of pencils. I'm messing around in OpenSCAD today, this thing is probably the most trivial thing ever to crank out -- <20 LoC -- if someone can supply accurate dimensions and a reference picture. OpenSCAD = naturally parametric so you can "dial a height" just by twiddling a variable. Re: [M100] Model T upgrades
Robert, Neither REX nor NadsBox are currently in production. There are quite a few alternatives for a TPDD emulator. LadieAlpha works on multiple platforms. mComm works on a Windows PC or an Android phone. So it really depends on what you want to hook your 100 up with to act as a storage unit. The legs come up every now and then on eBay. Just keep your eye out and eventually they will be on sale. Welcome to the list.
