Thanks for all the responses, y’all! LibROM sounds like just the ticket, and
having the code published is icing on the cake.

Thanks much!

Hi Peter,

If all one is interested in is hiding those file entries in the main menu,
then yes, change.ba certainly does the job. But all you're doing is just
hiding them, not actually changing any functionality in your computer.

LibROM is actually a replacement system ROM image that has the machine code
for ADDRS & SCHED completely removed from the system ROM image and replaced
with TEENY+, a command-line driven TPDD-compatible file transfer utility
based off of TEENY. Pretty cool use of the freed up space for sure.

Has anyone played with modifying the system ROM to remove/change menu
entries or add other programs? ADDRSS and SCHEDL are totally useless to me,
and I’d rather have HTERM than TELCOM since I’m never going to even see a
 functional RJ-11 jack again.

Might be nice to have the launchers for TS-DOS/Ultimate ROM/whatever
other Option ROMs ‘burned in’ to the default menu so they stay resident on
 a cold boot.

In case my message did not get through, one can do the same with a simple
basic program called change.ba.

There is a BASIC program called CHANGE.BA that will eliminate menu items.

There is a guy in the UK, Sarah Libman, who has published his modified M100
main rom to take out ADDRS and SCHED, and include an expanded Teeny.

The documented assembly is a good start for further changes, or use as is!
