[M100] laser pc4
I have the very small Laser PC4 portable computer. It works, although it unfortunately lacks a dialer, but it has no cables. The serial and printer cables use the same port, a DB15. Any ideas?
Re: [M100] laser pc4
It has a DB15 connector that you use to plug in the serial transfer cable or the parallel printer cable. It is not much use for writing if I cannot get said writing out of it. I could make a cable, but I can't find anything about the cables or the pinout of the connector. BTW my unit could have a telephone dialer, but it doesn't. On Sat, 29 Sep 2018 at 09:16, John R. Re: [M100] laser pc4
Hi Bert - The seeming conundrum of 16-bit addressing of > 64K is accomplished by switching "Banks" of memory - For instance my 8201a has a 32K ROM, & 3 banks of 32K RAM which may be addressed at any one time. Further, there's a system bus connector which allows a plug-in 128K RAM cartridge - Which is also expandable; pretty slick, really... Jack On 9/29/18, John R. Is that correct? 2 Meg of ROM but only 32K of RAM? I thought the Z80 could only address 64K of memory at a time. And BTW, in case no one has said it, thank you for helping keep the list a fun place to be. :-) Cheers,Bert On 09/18/2018 03:13 PM, John R. I saw your message. I think the Laser PC4 qualifies as a true portable by my definition. http://bitchin100.com/wiki/index.php?title=True_Portable_Definition https://oldcomputermuseum.com/laser_pc4.html Whatever experiences you can share would be great. -- John.

I saw your message, but it's not a computer that I am familiar with. On Tue, Sep 18, 2018 at 3:16 PM, Peter Vollan wrote: > Did my message get through?
