True. I love chrome and do use it for those troublesome pages or when I feel
like it. lol! Chrome vox also works. There is a list for discussing the use of
google chrome and i can give that info publically if one wants.

Be blessed all.

signatures

2013-07-31 Thread Linda C. Knight

Hi all,

I was playing around in mail on the mac last night and I am finding it
difficult to get my signature the way I want it.

It appears that I can't get my signature (see the below signature) on my
email on the mac. Using my windows at the moment as I still have to get
things set up good on the mac.

Can someone on here tell me the best way to do the signature? It looks like
you can only do two lines.

Thank you,

Re: signatures

2013-07-31 Thread Sarah k Alawami
What I do is do it in text edit and then paste it in the sigs dialogue. I have
like 5 or 6 lines of stuff for one of my sigs which I'll put here for an
example. I save each of them in a text file that way I don't' have to do it in
case I have to reinstall mail.

The key is if you have more then 1 account or even 1 account put the sig in
that account's area. so navigate to the first table where you see all then the
accounts. and navigate to yours for example ham email. Then go to the next
table and there will be your sigs. If you see nothing click add new signature
then type the name of the sig you want then paste in the text you want. I'll
show you my longest sig I have. for an example, and if you need to contact me.
lol!

DiskMaker makes it easier to create a bootable Lion installer
 http://www.macworld.com/article/1166702/lion_diskmaker_makes_it_easier_to_create_a_bootable_lion_installer.html

The developer now has a dedicated web page for Lion Disk Maker (in English):
 http://liondiskmaker.com/

Otherwise, in general we usually check the macupdate site for software (as
Sarah mentioned), As she also mentioned, there are a few ways to make a
bootable USB key, and they're described in the MacWorld article. They
include using disk utility, Carbon Copy Cloner, and Lion Disk Maker. I did
this for Mountain Lion with Carbon Copy Cloner, which is a paid app I have
for doing backups. Lion Disk Maker is a free app.

At present the dev is working on version 3 which will support Mavericks.

You will need at most an 8 gig flash drive, for now. We'll see about
mavrics when that comes out as I plan on upgrading that same 8 gig flash
drive I have. I believe you can find Lion Disk Maker at

Find my friends App

2013-07-31 Thread Paul Hopewell
Hello,
The find my friends App in the iTunes App store uses GPS to determine the
location of one or more friends and displays the results on a map. There is a
similar App for Android in the google play store.

Does this App work if some of my friends are on iPhone and others are on
Android? If not does anyone know of an App which will work on both iPhone and
Android?

Note that I am not concerned about the VoiceOver accessibility of the App as it
will be used by my sighted wife.

Many thanks.

FaceBook

2013-07-31 Thread Gordon Smith
Hi all

I've had a FAceBook account set up for a while, but never really used it. I
just looked at the website and it seems to me, at first glance, to be an
accessibility nightmare with VoiceOver. I know that others do use it though,
so how do others make good use of FAceBook? I'm sure we bought an app for this
in the App Store a while back, so here's the question. Do others use third
party applications, or do they use the website itself? I think that probably
most of the problem I'm having is purely and simply that I'm not used to
FAceBook. I use third party apps for Twitter, and they help me a lot.
Hopefully the same can be said of FaceBook, in due course.

Kind regards

Re: FaceBook

2013-07-31 Thread Zachary Kline
Hi,
There is a Facebook mobile app for iOS, which is actually very nice especially
in the latest version. One tip for navigating the website though is to use
heading navigation liberally. All status updates, etc. are navigable in this
way. With the mobile app you can access all common features however, and they
put some thought into making it is accessible as possible.
It is simply called Facebook, by Facebook Inc.
Yours,
Zack.

Assistance With New gmail Account

I now have a gmail address, but am not sure how to set up my account to work in
Apple Mail on my iMac. I'm thinking I do it through System Preferences? Are
all gmail accounts imap accounts? My goal was to get an imap account as my

be able to collect my messages from my gmail account in my regular inbox

Re: Assistance With New gmail Account

Hello. in mail go to yrou prefs then accounts in the tool bar, then to add new
account. From there just enter you name, your gmail and its password and from
there follow the prompts. apple will detect a gmail account and set it up for
you so all you need to do is make sure the settings are correct and hit create.

Also sometimes it asks if you want contacts to be set up there to and notes
and calendar. I normally say no to that and only set it up for mail.

Take care.

Hello there. If you go to the gmail site and log in it will see you have

will put everything where it needs to be and set up as imop.

app for this in the App Store a while back, so here's the question. Do
others use third party applications, or do they use the website itself? I
think that probably most of the problem I'm having is purely and simply
that I'm not used to FAceBook. I use third party apps for Twitter, and
they help me a lot. Hopefully the same can be said of FaceBook, in due
 course.

yeah it does. It sends a header out to the site telling it it's firefox and it
renders it like a firefox browser. I dunno how all of this stuff works but I'm
learning lol! and here is a bit of a demo on it. if it does not work try again

Re: FaceBook

2013-07-31 Thread Brian Fischler
Hey all, a little tip using Facebook and safari that some of you might not
know. I have my Facebook page set to where it is bookmarked and I have set a
web spot right on the what's on your mind field, and almost every time I pull
Facebook up by my bookmark it opens right to the what's on your mind field, so
if I want to post something I just type and click post. Yeah I know you can
post through notification center, but I find on my mac this seems to be the
fastest way for me to post. Hope this helps some.

 Hi all

I've had a FAceBook account set up for a while, but never really used it.
I just looked at the website and it seems to me, at first glance, to be an
accessibility nightmare with VoiceOver. I know that others do use it
though, so how do others make good use of FAceBook? I'm sure we bought an
app for this in the App Store a while back, so here's the question. Do
others use third party applications, or do they use the website itself? I
think that probably most of the problem I'm having is purely and simply
that I'm not used to FAceBook. I use third party apps for Twitter, and
they help me a lot. Hopefully the same can be said of FaceBook, in due
 course.

 Kind regards

Re: FaceBook

2013-07-31 Thread Sarah k Alawami
Not that Im aware of. That would be nice though. I just hit vo m, d, u, right
arrow, f, down arrow once, enter. If you are comfortable with doing that you
can switch agents fast. Feel free to try out the other ones as I only have used
firefox.

 Take care.

Hey all, a little tip using Facebook and safari that some of you might not
know. I have my Facebook page set to where it is bookmarked and I have set
a web spot right on the what's on your mind field, and almost every time I
pull Facebook up by my bookmark it opens right to the what's on your mind
field, so if I want to post something I just type and click post. Yeah I
know you can post through notification center, but I find on my mac this
seems to be the fastest way for me to post. Hope this helps some.

2013-07-31 Thread Linda C Knight

Hi Sarah and All,

I got the below signature set.

Thank you, for all the help.

I had to get apple support as mail kept getting busy on me.

So they helped me finish the signature and I removed Pages. If i decide I want
it later on, I can redownload it from the app store.
