Re: ios 7.1: convert vs. convela

2014-03-31 Thread Glenn
I am using the Australian voice, and it pronounces it correctly.
Then I switch to the American voice and it says something weird like covey
eyed
So it is a bug with the American voice. Perhaps that is why the Apple tech
did not hear it.

Subject: ios 7.1: convert vs. convela

I need to know if this is happening to others.
When reading the word "convert " with vO on a device running ios 7.1, the
word
"convert " is pronounced "convela" I have had 2 others check this out,
and
they get the same result. I know this is crazy, and have know idea why this
is
happening, or how a vO pronunciation could have changed. It was speaking it
correctly in ios 7.0.6.

Please let me know if this is happening on your ios7.1 device(s).

Thanks,
Diane

So, I'm looking at using Samnet Socializer sold by Serotek. I've heard it can

Do any of you use this with the mac, iPad and iPhone and with Voiceover? Would

Thanks

Ah thanks for that. In the case of my her name it will be the one used for my

Hello Gordon.

this is very encouraging to hear, as I was actually considering purchasing a
thunderbolt Drive in the future. how did those speeds calculate in comparison
to USB 3.0? More specifically, how many times faster would you estimate that
the thunderbolt probably is?
at any rate, thanks again for the suggestion, and for the information.

My First Experience With Thunderbolt Storage Media

2014-03-31 Thread Gordon Smith
Hello everybody

As the final part of a systems upgrade here at Mac Access, I took delivery
earlier on today of 2 LaCie LittleBig RAID disk arrays. These drives only
support Striped and Mirror RAID configurations, as each enclosure contains 2
high capacity 7200 RPM 2TB SATA drives. It was a deliberate choice that I made
when we decided to invest in the hardware a couple of weeks ago. I could have
had 1 Promise enclosure which would have given me an 8TB capacity but doing it
this way means that I can deploy the solutions across more than one system.

I have to admit that I was a little skeptical when I read the specifications of
Thunderbolt some time ago in an Intel® technical document. However, having now
seen it in action, I believe it!

The protocol out-performs USB3 by a very long way, giving you a staggering
bi-directional stream, each of which allows for up to 10GB simultaneously. It
should be stressed that 10GB is 10 Gigabits, not Gigabytes, there is a
difference.

In any event, I am absolutely blown away by the awesome speed of Thunderbolt,
something which PC users can only dream about.

For us personally, combined with the 2 cloud solution drives which I installed
on our networks recently, this really is going to be the ultimate in system
storage. If you are thinking of upgrading to Thunderbolt, all I can say is you
won’t regret it I’m sure.

Kind regards

Re: Downloading purchased audiobooks

2014-03-31 Thread Travis Siegel
Then, you should download your audio books from audible instead,
that's where Itunes gets it's books anyway (or at least used to be)
and they don't have any restrictions on how long they keep your books
for you. You can download them whenever you like. There's still a
book I purchased in 2000 that is on my shelf waiting for me to
download it if I should ever have to again.
Generally, Itunes is more expensive than audible anyhow, especially if
you have a membership (even if it's just the $9.95 a year plan) so
it's all around better to skip Itunes for audio books anyhow.

Re: Downloading purchased audiobooks

2014-03-31 Thread Matthew Carello
If your responding to Mary Beth’s post she said Audible. That is a different
service then iTunes grin. They would not show up there. I would imagine that
you would have to download them from audible. Also the same thing goes for text
tones in ITunes. You can not redownload those either. I would imagine that with
tones and audio books purchased from ITunes it would be best to back them up
somewhere and keep them as safe as you could.
